To my total shock and disbelief, and I'm sure the entire Australian music industry... Kylie Minogue has NOT debuted at #1 with her new album "Body Language". She did not get out-debuted by anybody else.... rather Delta Goodrem's "Innocent Eyes" has proved too strong even for Kylie, even as it spends its 35th week on the charts!! Delta's album is unstoppable and still going SO SO SO strong all this time later. I am really surprised by this as Kylie is the biggest most popular artist of the past 5 years over here and has a very large fan base who would've been eager to snap up her album... yet Delta's album has won yet more people over.
Congratulations to Delta for her 25th week at #1 making her album equal 1st for the longest running #1 Australian album of all time and equal 2nd of all albums for time at #1. Her album has now gone 10 times platinum as well.
Kylie debuts at #2 being certified double platinum straight out of the box. I don't think this can be seen as Kylie's album not doing well, it's more a reflection on Delta than on Kylie. I'm sure Kylie's album will do just fine.
Other debuts:
#7 Blink 182 - Blink 182
#8 Micheal Jackson - #1's
#10 Britney Spears - In The Zone
#11 The Beatles - Let It Be... Naked
#19 Pearl Jam - Lost Dogs
#27 Cold Chisel - Ringside
#30 LeAnn Rimes - Greatest Hits
#32 Ronan Keating - Turn It On
#48 Sunk Loto - Between Birth And Death
Over on the singles chart, Britney and Madonna spend a 2nd week at #1 with Kylie at #2 here also.
Debuts:
#12 No Doubt - It's My Life
#25 The J Wess Project - What Chu Want
#37 George - Still Real
#38 Saddle Club - Boogie Oogie Oogie/Undercover Movers and Shakers
#41 Sarah McLachlan - Fallen
