This absolutely gorgeous cover of the Tears for Fears hit has been a word of mouth success since it was used in the movie 'Donnie Darko' and is now a major contender for Christmas #1 in the UK. (it's #2 on the initial midweek,s but very closely behind the Darkness)
Anyone heard it?

Yeah, I heard it when I saw "Darko" a few months ago, and it's great. I never knew it was released a single now or otherwise, though.

It's been one of those songs that just totally caught on through word of mouth.

"Mad World" may get a further boost in the near future. Apparently there will be director's cut for DONNIE DARKO released to the theaters later this spring.

How delightfully unfestive.
I wonder if it'll cross over in America? It's a gorgeous gorgeous song.

Did you happen to see the sales totals? This single moved 227,000 copies last week. In the tiny UK! I wonder what the last single was to sell that many in a week over here...

Gareth Gates sold over 300,000 copies of his charity single 'Spirit In The Sky' this year.

Erm, duh! Clay Aiken & Ruben Studdard! Okay...let me rephrase that. What was the last real single to sell that many copies in the states?

This is a song that stuck with me ever since I first saw Donnie Darko, and I'm glad to see it getting so much recognition.
On another note regarding the UK chart, if you saw the movie "Love Actually", you'll be interested to know that "Christmas Is All Around" by Billy Mack was actually released this week as well, but it only made #26.
