Toxic is narrowly ahead of last weeks #1, the re-release of Peter Andre's 1996 #2 'Mysterious Girl'. She looks set for some big sales too, she could clear 100,000 copies. Andre did last week, so the singles market is doing well in the UK for a change.
Novelty record 'Cha Cha Slide' is at #3, but annoyingly it'll probably rise over the weekend, could even keep Britney off #1. george Micheal is at #4 and Kylie Minogue at #5, but Kylie should have little trouble passing him as her record has wider appeal. 'Red Blooded Woman' is on pace to outsell 'Slow's first week total, which has to be good news for the record.

Good for Britney. Much deserved.
This would be her fourth #1, correct?

George Michael's song is the best out of those - wish it had a shot at #1!

I haven't heard it yet. Is it a dance song ? It has a slight dance edge but it's more like a midtempo pop song. It's very good. I'd say it's his best single in quite a few years.

It's very good. I'd say it's his best single in quite a few years. Lol, in my opinion that really doesn't say much...ever since "Fast Love" back in '96, (a great tune) I've not liked any of his songs with the exception of maybe his duet with Mary J. Blige, "As". I'll download this track and listen to it...am glad to hear it's a good single.

I would say "Amazing" is quite like "Fastlove" in terms of tempo, sound etc.

Toxic is narrowly ahead of last weeks #1, the re-release of Peter Andre's 1996 #2 'Mysterious Girl'. Is the UK music market so sparse that remakes and RE-RELEASES are hitting the Top 3?

It's not THAT common. I can't remember the last time it happened.
He was on 'I'm A celebrity... get me out of here' and national Radio DJ Chris Moyles campaigned for the re-release.
It's better than recent #1's by sam & Mark & Busted, anyway. Though personally i'd have much preferred to see Jamelia hit #1 last week.

Figures the UK would fall for that crap. Not just the UK but it is doing quite well in the USA and much of the rest of the world. I guess it just has that universal appeal that a good pop song should have.

I noticed this is her 4th airplay #1 as well. I assume her airplay #1s are the same as her sales #1s?
