Its obvious they don't do it on spins alone. Maybe they take requests in consideration as well? I remember when Eiffel 65's "Blue" was released late in '99 here in Canada, the local CHR/Pop station had it at #4 on the year-end chart. I just thought since it was released so late in the year (maybe November or so) it seemed strange that it was so high on the chart.

I think they (Mediabase-monitored stations at least) take the Mediabase Year End Chart for their station and tweak it a little.
I noticed that the 2 Pop stations I get don't have the same year end chart as the one shown on Mediabase.
And speaking of year end charts, WKCI has "Some Girls (Dance With Women)" as their #101 song. Ahhhh...

I would expect each station to have their own method.

I caught the top 6 of the Top 100 of 03 on Kiss 108 (Boston) and it was the same as the "Year-To-Date" on Mediabase, except Bring Me To Life & Where Is The Love were flipped...
on Mediabase... 1 JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE Rock Your Body 2 MATCHBOX TWENTY Unwell 3 3 DOORS DOWN When I'm Gone 4 CHRISTINA AGUILERA Fighter 5 EVANESCENCE Bring Me To Life 6 BLACK EYED PEAS Where Is The Love
on the actual broadcasted countdown... 1 JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE Rock Your Body 2 MATCHBOX TWENTY Unwell 3 3 DOORS DOWN When I'm Gone 4 CHRISTINA AGUILERA Fighter 5 BLACK EYED PEAS Where Is The Love 6 EVANESCENCE Bring Me To Life
So I dont know what they used...maybe Kiss used more charts dates in late Nov/Dec then Mediabase did?? But their weekly top 30 is nothing related to the top 30 Mediabase has for the individual stations...

How can I check to see what WIOG's YTD would be according to Mediabase?

Well, after comparing the two, this is what I found: [Mediabase positions are referenced; this only covers the Top 50]
#50 is 3 spots up #48 is 2 spots down #47 is 1 spot down #46 is 1 spot up #45 is 1 spot down #44 is 9 spots down (!) #41 is 8 spots up (!) #33 is 10 spots up (!) #23 is 18 spots down (!!!) #14 is 1 spot up #13 is 1 spot up #12 is 2 spots down #3 is 1 spot up #2 is 1 spot down
The rest all match.
Very interesting indeed.

Someone upthread mentioned WKCI's top 101. Any way you could send me that list? The station did a poor job of adversiting the countdown this year and as such I missed a good 70% of it.
Thanks

Some stations factor in sales of singles in local stores.
Other stations encourage listeners to vote for their favuorite songs of the year.
I'm not sure whether stations are consistent in how this information is incorporated with spins/request data. I don't really trust the year-end countdown that my local station came up with.

I tend to trust local station countdowns about as much as I trust Rick Dees' all request specials.
