Just heard this on XM. This must be the worst remake of all time. Please tell me this is not catching on in Europe.

It's not a single, just something he does live. I think it was a B-side to his last single too.

It's not like he sings it like Andre 3000. He slows it down, turns it into a jazz kinda thing. Not keen myself, but it's an interesting re-invention of the song.

I'm sorry, but what's the point of removing a song's best feature (the absolutely positively zinging ENERGY of Hey Ya!) and make a cover of whatever's left over (i.e. nothing)? This is the most hilariously horrendous cover of 2004. I suspect a desperate attempt to float a sinking career. Certainly one for the "WTF were they thinking" files. The only recognizeable line was the "My baby don't mess around..."

lol why's it being criticised so harshly. Its not like he released it as a single or has it on his album or anything ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

Will's career is anything but sinking. His second album sold over twice as much as the first one, and all the singles have been top 3 hits, plus a sellout UK Tour. he's easily the biggest male solo artist we have right now.
And anyway, it's a B-side. Hardly a major attention grabbing thing. Don't even know why it's being discussed, it's a throwaway thing.

Sue me. I like it, and I've never liked another one of his songs at all.

Actually after posting that scathing opinion of the song, I'm kinda liking the verses to it. The chorus still makes me want to throw up though.
The reason I posted about it is because it is getting decent airplay on XM's U-Pop channel. It might be a throwaway, but it is getting attention. If you cover a song like "Hey Ya", it's obviously going to get people listening. If it weren't meant to get attention, it would have never been put on a CD in the first place.

I'm going to roll my eyes at myself here because I'm taking back what I said about this song. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) It's surprisingly very tolerable. I accidentally heard it because I had left it in my Winamp library and it was... soothing. And then I heard it intentionally by double-clicking on it. ![:-[](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png)
