Nobody's hit the mark yet as to why Pink's career is on the downturn: SHE'S OVEREXPOSED. She's consistently released singles ever since she debuted in the Spring of 2000, meaning that radio has always had a new or current release for now TEN straight singles.
I personally believe that she should've simply not contributed to the CA2 soundtrack (or at least not a single release), and instead taken most of the rest of 2003 off. That way she could come back with a much better chance to succeed. But nooooooo...Family Portrait was barely gone when Feel Good Time hit (and fared badly), and only THREE months later, Trouble was released. While I don't believe that Trouble was a very good single choice, it was still far too soon to release anything at all. But noooooooo...that only fared as well as FGT, and now this - much more radio friendly than either of the two before it, and it does worse than both.
At this point, she's doomed. Nothing she releases will help, and not releasing anything more will cause people to forget about her completely. She's trapped herself in a corner and there's nothing that can be done about it. It's too bad. :(

You make a very good point, Mike. I defnitely agree with that. If she keeps releasing singles consistatnly there is now way to make a hyped "come-back."

I think she should have NOT released Feel Good Time and released God is a Dj first. Trouble was terrible to me. It killed any excitement I had for her new cd

Actually, I talked about it here: I actually think this is decent. I think if she had taken a break where "Feel Good Time" came and released this as the first single from her new album, it would be a top 5 hit. I think she should have NOT released Feel Good Time and released God is a Dj first. Trouble was terrible to me. It killed any excitement I had for her new cd Exactly what I said!

Actually the point is, her new album just isn't very good. She rushed the album, it wasn't quality, and that's why the songs aren't doing better.
end of story.

Haha, good, she sucks! It's about time, and it's only a matter of time before her spiral shifts downward exponentially. She sucks, and America is finally starting to realize what I've known from the beginning. Kind of like the case with Hootie and the Blowfish. (They were not trashy like her, but nonetheless, they sucked just as horribly.) Hurrah!

Pink is definitely trapped in a box. If only she didn't contribute on the Charlie's Angel 2: Full Throttle soundtrack, things would be very different I bet. Release "God Is A DJ" first, Pink would have had a bigger selling album and continue to be a radio darling. As for "God Is A DJ," I actually like it. Its not as catchy/good as anything on the previous album, but it should have performed better. I really hope the third single will save the album, "Try This" hasn't even broke a million yet! One thing, I blame Arista for not premiering the video. That's not a smart move. There You Go Most Girls You Make Me Sick Lady Marmalade Get The Party Started Don't Let Me Get Me Just Like A Pill Family Portrait Feel Good Time Trouble God Is A DJ

Feel Good Time was too different for radio; it wasn't bad, just different. Trouble was good, but got annoying. God Is A DJ however, is a true gem...and I don't see why radio isn't seeing that. But then again, I kinda saw this happening from the beginning. Who knows though? It might get a second wind. Maybe arista will payola it or something. And in regards to the premiere, the video (which is really cool btw!) is set to premiere on TRL this tuesday.

"God Is A DJ" is her best single since "Just Like A Pill" but it doesn't even come close to that one.

The "Big 3" females in the 2000's have been J.lo, Christina, and Pink. Now that Pink can only have flops, J.lo with an uncertain future on radio, and with Christina ending an era, what female artists will Radio embrace? Britney, Avril, and Beyonce? I hope to god no.

Well, now that P!nk and JLO have less than impressive peaks and Christina is most likely done releasing singles they will have to find new pop artists. They will probably pick "Naughty Girl" pretty well, and God knows what will happen with Britney. She could have a bunch of fast climbs to the tens and then falls. Avril seems to be the female ready to produce the most hits in 2004.

I will sue the Canadian government if she becomes the biggest female pop star in 04. Maybe Kylie can do something in 04?

Who knows, maybe Avril will surprise us all and pull a Pink/J.lo! But yeah, for now there doesn't seem to be a big female name for this year.

I don't think overexposure is Pinks biggest problem... its making shitty music thats the biggest problem.
Other artists have been WAY more overexposed than Pink ever was and still managed to have hits during their overexposed period (eg, J. Lo, Britney). Also, Pink was never really overexposed in general... maybe on the radio but she has never been a media whore like a lot of other female artists.
Pink has just been making music that's firstly not as good as her 2nd album material and secondly PLAIN ANNOYING!!! Many of her latest songs have had a lot of annoying elements in them and combined with her annoying attitude... she has become unappealing to people. The 'cool' Pink has become annoying and faux cool.

I don't think overexposure is Pinks biggest problem... its making s**tty music thats the biggest problem. I dont know...Linda Perry is great. She did wonders on "Beautiful" and Pink's "Misundaztood", which was, IMO one of the greatest albums of that year...however, Pink's negative vibe definately doesnt help her fanbase. Granted Try This isnt the best [singlewise] album...but the songs arent bad.

Yeah... >:( Damn. I wonder why Arista isn't pushing this song more? With LA Reid gone at Arista, they have canceled all protion of her album. No more videos no more payola budget. LA gets more per album then Pink does because she is an ex LaFace artist. Also, if the album turns around it only makes LA look good, and that is bad for the new management.

You've become as bad as Atlantic is for Alternative format bands. >:( I hate label politics like these.
