Sticky Please! I just thought that since the 1/23/04 chart will be out this afternoon, and that people are posting chart movement that will be reflected on the 1/30/04 chart in that old thread, it was time to start a new one! :) So, let the pop chart proceedings begin!

Colombia are REALLY dumb if they're gonna push a new Jessica Simpson/Nick Lachey single to radio in 3 weeks. 'With You' could go to #1. They should keep pushing 'In This Skin'
With its bullet so strong now, 'With You' may hit the top regardless, and we'll have Jessica overload (Or TMBA will just totally bomb, and the record co will wake the hell up that nobody actually gives a damn about Nick Lachey).

Sarah McLachlan has bulleted off the chart and even if she has a bullet at the end of the week "Fallen" won't get any more weeks on chart. Nickelback is now only gaining 23 less than "The Way You Move" there should be upcoming days with Number 3 less than 500 behind Number 1. Jessica Simpson is ahead of Linkin Park and gaining more but people predicted Linkin Park to do better. Jessica could reach Number 4 or better, with the only song way ahead of it in trend a song that could deccelerate fast (Britney). After "Sweetest Sin" flopped did anybody expect her to be on the chart ahead of Britney and Christina? The three greatest gainers at the bottom of the chart could battle for a while. They are "Come Clean," "Yeah," and "This Love." Fuel has tied their career peak position on Medibase and will get a new career peak position on the 1/30 chart. Evanescence has gone hit-flop-hit with their first three singles like Daniel Bedingfield did..

I like "Falls On Me", but I don't think it deserves to outpeak "Hemorhage" on pop. It's ironic that this could become their biggest pop hit when it had a relatively dissapointing performance on alternative for a 1st single.

3 songs should have 8000 + spins a week or so (HY, TWYM, and Someday).
Has that ever happened before?

I'm sure it has, not anytime recently though, back when there were a lot more monitered stations.

Today's update: -No Doubt loses their bullet. Now there are only 3 bulleted songs in the top 10 (WY, Smdy, TWYM,) but that will soon change. -Afer having a bullet 2 days ago, "Milkshake" goes from +38, to -71, to -182. Yay! -Christina Aguilera and Kelly Clarkson are on the verge of losing their bullets! Xtina :) Kelly :'( -Evanescence's bullet is now +765 from yesterday being in the 600s. -Britney Spears' bullet is now almost 1500!
Now, getting to the point........I want everyone's opinion on these battles......who can go the farthest and how far?
Battle #1....All these songs have been around for awhile but still have healthy gains all near +300. I think all of these will peak in the mid-teens. What do you think?
Good Charlotte vs. Fuel vs. Beyonce vs. Sheryl Crow
Battle #2....Just entering the Top 50, here are the 3 songs with gains around +600, soon to be higher than 600 of course.
Hilary Duff vs. Maroon 5 vs. Usher

Good Charlotte vs. Fuel vs. Beyonce vs. Sheryl Crow I hope Sheryl Crow comes out on top and Beyoncé comes in last. However, none of the songs are bad. I hope Hilary Duff comes out on top and Usher comes in last. I really don't like the Usher song, very cliché.

I hope Kylie can continue to rise and at least make top 30.
As for the following chart battles: Good Charlotte vs. Fuel vs. Beyonce vs. Sheryl Crow: I see Beyonce doing the best, with Fuel losing their bullet first. None of these will make top 10.
Hilary Duff vs. Maroon 5 vs. Usher: Usher will continue his gains for a while, accelerating and making top 5, with Maroon 5 slowing down soon and Hilary Duff gaining for a while, but missing the top 10.

I hope Outkast blocks Nickelback from #1, although I guess "Someday" will have more longevity. Well then, I hope Linkin Park's "Numb" moves up fast.

The Maroon 5 song is easily becoming the most overrated song on the board at the moment. I mean sure, I like it more than "Harder To Breathe", which isn't saying too much, but I really don't see how it's that great.
Speaking of overrated, I sure hope "Someday" doesn't hit #1!!! >:( At least "How You Remind Me" was good, but "Someday" is just bland and a rip-off.

It is really not too radio-friendly compared to "She Will Be Loved", which should have been the second single from "Songs About Jane". They must release that next and if a fourth single is necessary, release "Tangled" As for Nickelback, "Someday" is not groundbreaking but I'd like to see them replace Outkast. "Someday" does have too much of the HYRM resemblance but still Chad knows how to write a poignant song. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

From the time I posted this until now... which is about four and half hours. The Usher song grew on me. Oh well, I still like the others more.

I'm rooting for Maroon5, Sheryl Crow, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Twista and... that's about it.

There's nothing Poignant about Nickelback! Tragic, maybe, but not poignant....

OMG, My Immortal is at +850 now :o
And OMG, Toxic is almost at +1600 :o :o :o
I wonder if Toxic's spin movement is one of the fastest ones ever on Mediabase.

I wonder if Toxic's spin movement is one of the fastest ones ever on Mediabase. Die Another Day, Pop, All For You, and (possibly) Without Me all broke +2000. But this might be close to a record for a second single.

Staind is done. They're losing over 200 now and have already fallen to #21. It looks like Beyonce, Fuel, and Sheryl will all pass Staind, quashing just about any chance that they'll be able to stay in the top 20 by the end of the week. So their peak position of #18 will also be their dropoff position.

Staind is done. They're losing over 200 now and have already fallen to #21. This song has been around forever---it hit alternative ages ago, but it's also been on the pop chart for a while. Now that it's going recurrent, how many weeks has it been in the Top 40? Top 50?

Top 40 chart run for "So Far Away":
40-34-28-31-30-31-25-23-25-24-23-24-21-20-18-18
That's 18 weeks if you count the two break weeks.

I haven't seen such second single movements since "Beautiful"... which, ironically enough, also followed up a disappointing first single! I wouldn't be disappointed by "Me Against The Music" having a better peak position than the six singles before it, including another first single. Dido (19), Good Charlotte (20), Staind (21), Fuel (22), Beyonce (23), and Sheryl Crow (24) are only 93 spins apart from 19 to 24. Ruben has currently bulleted off the chart.

Staind has been in the top 40 for 16 weeks and the top 50 for 20 weeks(not counting the two-week break). It's probably in the top 10 for slowest ever climb to the top 20.

I know "I'll Be" had a slower climb (under the 25/26), and "Breathless" and "Swear It Again" rose at about the same rate.
