In stores March 23 is Pilar Montenegro's new self-titled album! I have not heard any of the songs from it yet. One of the singles off her last album, "Alguien Que Una Vez Amé," was good. CALIENTE! It's funny how Univision Música releases albums at the drop of a hat. Actually, that seems to be the case with most Latin music labels. I think it's a good idea. It doesn't keep the fans waiting!

I'll always remember her for making the Billboard Hot 100 with only Latin airplay. I assumed it was a male so thanks for telling me it's a female. I guess I don't know Spanish names.

:o Has that ever happened before? I actually haven't even heard that single yet. Thanks for letting me know! The other examples I've seen a Spanish song on the Billboard Hot 100: 2000: While it was in the Top 50, Billboard changed Son By Four's "A Puro Dolor" to "Purest Of Pain (A Puro Dolor)." I'm assuming they did that when a majority of its audience went from being in Spanish to being in English. In Spanglish, it was one of the biggest hits of the year on WHTZ (Z100). Anyway, it got airplay on English and Latin stations, so I can't compare it other examples of Spanish songs. It lasted a very long time on the Billboard Hot Latin tracks chart. The other example I saw was "Tal Vez" by Ricky Martin. That makes him the only artist I remember seeing on the Billboard Hot 100 in English and Spanish with different songs. Looking at www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005O6LE/qid=1079315627/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_2/002-6344016-4525653 the Pilar song I saw may have been "Quitame Ese Hombre" but none of the titles look very familiar to me. I look at www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=UIDMISS70402012014222544&sql=TPk86gtq3znu4o and I was right about the song title and it peaked at Number 74 (which is better than many of the English artists you like). The track listing for Pilar has "Love Is All You Need." Should she try to get English airplay with that? Pilar peaked in her first week on the Billboard Hot 100 because it's that hard to make Top 75 airplay. She had maybe 7 weeks on chart. Come to think about it, other than Pilar the only other artists I remember getting their career Billboard Hot 100 peak position in their first week on chart were songs with low airplay that debuted with singles sales like Kelly, Clay, Ruben, the American Idol 2 group single last year, and Eden's Crush. That's assuming the song I saw was her only song to make the chart. Amazon says "Pilar" comes out on Tuesday (a week earlier than you said) and if I remember I'll check her Heatseekers position assuming she doesn't and never has made the Top 100 of the Billboard 200. I like the "Pilar" album cover much better than the "Desahogo" album cover.#nosmileys

I like her album cover. It reminds me of Angel Faith's photo shoots.
