Shakira - Live & Off The Record
What do you think of the new DVD/CD??
I think the CD is slightly pants because you can see how they've chosen the songs. All the Laundry Service singles and some of her biggest Donde Estan Los Ladrones singles with Poem To A Horse on because it's being released and Back In Black because it's something new.
Still, it makes good listening but it's a shame the best songs aren't on the CD.
The DVD is great. The documentary is really insightful and can be quite emotional at times. I think it manages to portray all the elements of Shakira which make her so great. The concert footage is good but some of the sound has been edited slightly and it doesn't sound as raw as it did live, then again, you could never recreate that on a DVD.
One problem with the concert footage is it is always cutting from one shot to another and sometimes it is so unnecessary. The image is flickering all the place and sometimes you can't appreciate how great some of the small things are.
I think it was number 45 on the billboard which is really good considering it is a live DVD and not a CD album. On the music DVD charts it is number 1 so woo-hoo!!!

I really want to buy this! Which do you think is better: "MTV Unplugged" or "Live & Off The Record"? I already have all the tracks from "MTV Unplugged," but I'd like to buy it anyways.

Well...hmm...Unplugged or L&OTR...?
It's a hard choice.
They are too different really to choose. Buy them both because you need to see MTV Unplugged. Their are some songs which work better on the CD and some that work better on the DVD. L&OTR is really good and it let's you look at all aspects of Shakira so you should get them both!
