Thumbs down on this cheap production! Is this her new single from a new album? It's not on her current album listed on the site. "Cuando" was listed under "NUEVOS TEMAS..." on Fonovisa. After "Estoy Enamorada," this is a big letdown! Listen to "Cuando": www.fonovisa.com/medialinks/pro2372.asxVisit her Official site! Hosted by Tripod : yolandasfansite.tripod.com/Edit: "Cuando" is the single from the forthcoming new album "AQUI ME TIENES" coming out this Tuesday, October 5! (That's what a fan posted in her guestbook)The song is growing on me!

Can't wait to hear "La Reyna del Mall," the sequel to "Estoy Enamorada"!
From Reuters:
Young Yolanda Perez Strikes Up the Banda Sun Oct 3, 2004 08:25 PM ET
By Leila Cobo MIAMI (Billboard) - Yolanda Perez is not your run-of-the-mill regional act.
At 21 years old, she sings banda, with a lyrical voice unusual for the genre. But Perez has a broader range, as evidenced by her upcoming album, "Aqui Me Tienes," due Oct. 5 on Fonovisa.
The disc has traditional banda songs set to tropical, youthful arrangements, as well as a handful of banda/rap tracks.
"It's not too traditional, but it's not too modern," Perez says. "It sounds, I don't want to say girlie, but it sounds feminine."
The album's more traditional flavor is captured by the first single, "Cuando," which is receiving airplay from 12 regional Mexican stations.
The song was chosen over the edgier "La Reyna del Mall," a banda/rap track where Perez spars in English with her Spanish-speaking "dad" -- Los Angeles radio personality Don Cheto of KBUE (La Que Buena) over what to buy at the mall.
Conceptually, "La Reyna" is a follow-up to the single "Estoy Enamorada," from Perez's last album, 2003's "Dejenme Llorar." The song peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard regional Mexican airplay chart, and the album peaked at No. 29 on Top Latin Albums -- a decent showing for a new artist.
But for the follow-up, Fonovisa didn't want Perez to be stereotyped as an interpreter of humorous banda/rap.
"She moves in two worlds, and we didn't want to lock her into just one style," says Jose Luis Mogollon, Fonovisa VP of operations. "'Cuando' is a song with youthful arrangements but traditional instrumentation. It has no hip-hop and that makes it more mainstream."
"La Reyna," which Perez describes as "a song young people and parents can have fun with," will probably be the second single.
Although Perez says she is equally at ease in both styles, the artist got her start with banda, when she won an amateur contest at 11 years old. The prize was a record deal with Long Beach, Calif.-based indie Cintas Acuario (where Lupillo Rivera began his career). Perez signed with Fonovisa last year.

I like it; it's subtle! :) (Chasing Papi quote) The sexual undertone, I mean.

I requested both her CDs at the Daly City library, and they responded with enthusiasm. The CDs will be stocked SOON! :) I can't wait. They will already be on hold for me.
