Fey will release her 2nd Mecano remake this week. I don't really know this song that well. I never listened to disc 2 of Mecano's GH album. I loooved her remake of "La Fuerza Del Destino." It was better than the original.

The only Mecano songs I'm familiar with are "Cruz De Navajas", which is a great song! And the lesbian track. lol. I haven't heard any of Fey's new material.

I have to disagree with you, griego. Being somebody who grew up in the 80s and who is a huge fan of Mecano (the biggest Spanish band ever), I will have to say that in my opinion Fey's version of "La Fuerza Del Destino" is not better than the classic original. Fey did a good job, but it doesn't get close to the great original vocals by Ana Torroja and the instrumentation of the Cano brothers. Yeah, the instrumentation is more modern, but it lack the feeling that the orignal has. I haven't heard Fey's version of "Barco A Venus" yet so I cannot give an opinion on that.
I really recommend everybody the 2-CD greatest hits of Mecano. It's such an awesome group. Their lyrics are just poetry, the music amazing, and Ana's voice just beautiful.
If you grew up in the 90s, I might understand you preferring Fey's version of "La Fuerza Del Destino." Anyway... anybody has the right to his/her opinion.

Yeah, I'd probably feel different if I had been a fan of Mecano's back when they released their version. I remember when I first heard Fey's remake, I was like, "This song sounds so familiar...what a JAM." Then I realized all her album was Mecano's remakes. I had gotten Mecano's GH album from the library after you recommended it to me back in some LODVG topic. Mecano's GH album is good, but I never listened to the 2nd CD. Is the 2nd CD their later hits? The first disc sounded really dated so I couldn't get into it as much as I wanted to. That "no me mires no me mires no me no me no me mires" song was fun, though. (Actually, the only songs I rated a 5/5 on Windows Media Player were "Cuerpo y Corazon," "La Fuerza del Destino," and "Un Año Mas.")

Griego! Hola! I forgot it was you to whom I had talked months ago about Mecano and Julieta!! I’m glad you’re still here and that you enjoyed Julieta’s album. I agree, the Mecano album might sound a little bit dated specially if you’re listening to it for the first time. Do you know Spanish really well? Asking because a lot of the Mecano experience is the lyrics, the tails they tell (like in “Hijo De La Luna” and “Naturaleza Muerta”) or the metaphors used in songs like “Dalí” or nostalgic lyrics in “El Club De Los Humildes,” “Me Cuesta Tanto Olvidarte” and “El 7 De Setiembre.” Or a lesbian relationship in “Mujer Contra Mujer.” Or the effects of drugs in “Esto No Es Una Canción.” Lyrics were a big part of what made me a fan of this group. I really recommend you listening to those songs if you understand Spanish. The first 3 songs of disc 1 and the first 4 songs of disc 2 were the new songs of this 2CD compilation. They were good songs, but maybe not their best. “El Club De Los Humildes” was the first single and you can see had a more modern sound, kinda’ dance. I really liked that song. The rest of both CDs is a mix of many of their hits. Mecano started in the early 80s with a lot of fun songs like “Barco A Venus,” “Me Colé En Una Fiesta,” “Maquillaje” or “Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar.” Then in I think with their fourth album they started getting more serious and released more sophisticated smart pop.
About Julieta, as I had mentioned I will months ago, I went ahead and bought her other two albums. Now those I don’t know if I should recommend to you because they’re definitely no like the album “Sí.” The other two albums are more alternative and not really commercial. When Julieta released “Sí” and showed such a change, some hardcore fans get pissed because she was selling out with such a commercial album. I don’t care. The album is a great piece of pop. And yeah, it might be more commercial than her other two, but it still has edge and it’s different from a lot of pop stuff out there. I liked her two first albums because I enjoy pop music as well as weird alternative stuff, but I don’t know how you are with that. :) Bueno, have a nice day, Griego! Carlo

I'm surprisingly enjoying Disc 2 a lot! :o I don't know why Disc 1 didn't click with me the way Disc 2 is. And "Barco A Venus" is awesome! I actually haven't heard Fey's version yet. It'll be interesting to see how hers holds up to Mecano's now that I'm more familiar with theirs first.
Thanks for the heads up on the Julieta albums. I might check them out from the library, but you're right that I'll probably not prefer them over "Si."
I think I might have to give Mecano's Disc 1 another listen! Disc 2 is too good.

I love that site...I discovered it like 2 weeks ago. I have a new source for Myspace profile videos. Better than launch, imo...

This sounds HOT on the radio. I heard it for the first time on a station here in Salt Lake City. Actually, it comes from a small town in Wyoming. It's seriously the best Latin music station I've ever listened to. :o They played ALL my (romantica) favorites in a row last night and I was shocked. I couldn't turn off my radio and go to bed, I was too busy singing along! Not this song. I heard this one during the day.
