A new week...a new chart...discuss, people! :)
Well, "The Way You Move" has made it two weeks at the top and by the looks of things, the track should remain at #1 for the next couple weeks or so. "Someday" still has a bullet (surprisingly), so the battle remains as to who will reach #1 after OutKast: Nickelback, Jessica, and Britney all look likely...(*sigh*)
Nelly's back in the Top 40 with the remix for "Work It", the European track from over a year ago. Unfortunately, Switchfoot will probably drop soon...(*sigh again*)
I'm prediciting Janet will reach the Top 20 by this coming week's chart and Usher will get another Top 10 hit.

What's the record for longest time taken to reach #1? I think it's 22 weeks or something like that...And Nickelback is bulleted at #2 in their 20th week...

It may have been "You Were Meant For Me". I think Outkast may hang on for a 3rd week because of their Grammy wins and then Jessica Simpson will unfortunately take over, unless her bullet drops by a lot. Britney's bullet hasn't been going down. >:( But if it means she'll keep Jessica Simpson out of #1, I'll change my smiley face to

Nickelback will probably sneak in a week at #1 next week.
Jessica and Britney will be battling for #1 after that. LMAO...whodathunkit!

I thought "Save Tonight" took 22 or 23 weeks to get to #1. I'm pretty sure that has the record.

One shocking story right now is Switchfoot. A majority of us had very confident predictions it could go Top 10 and Switchfoot would continue in Creed's footsteps in a smaller way to deliver spiritualized rock to CHR/Pop airwaves. In losing its bullet yesterday, sadly Switchfoot may have to suffer the same fate as Live's "Heaven" (they peaked in the mid-30's)
Meanwhie, another Alternative artist crossing-over, Jet, is bound to hit big. "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" debuts at #45 this week with a promising bullet and a number of new Adds still coming, with over half the panel now playing the single. It may likely debut in the Top 40 by next Sunday.
Three Days Grace continue to pick up adds for "(I Hate) Everything About You" yet it's still only making minor leaps up the chart. It will enter the Top 50 by next Sunday, but with a somewhat small +153 bullet, we shouldn't expect to see this make huge waves on CHR/Pop. Perhaps a Top 30 appearance is plausible.
I won't even begin to imagine why Darkness's "I Believe In A Thing Called Love"even has a triple digit bullet on CHR/Pop, even below the Top 50. Could it be the video in particular that's moving this single, because the song itself sounds so yesterday in the likes of Guns and Roses or something.
Now...some thoughts on songs that didn't cross-over from Alternative: . . . . . Nickelback and Jessica Simpson are in a contest for the next #1 hit. Nickelback has the spin advantage, but Jessica has been reducing the deficit of spins from behind "Someday". This will be a great contest to watch.
Janet Jackson has a bullet near +2000 and "Just A Little While" may be the next single since "Me Against The Music" to make the Top 20 in two weeks.
Usher is also playing the quadruple-digit bullet game. With +1427 at #13 for "Yeah", it will likely climb to #11 by the end of this week unless 3 Doors Down accelerate their losses and Eamon doesn't stand in their way, and then vault well into the Top 10 from there.
Evanescence has a strong bullet still with "My Immortal", but suddenly Linkin Park's "Numb" has also been re-energized after a short slump. This will be an interesting race to the top, with Linkin Park having the 500 spin advantage but Evanescence able to cut some of the eficit out from behind.
Sheryl Crow may be looking at her biggest hit in over half a decade. With a healthy +307 bullet at #18, she has a chance at vaulting above the peak of "Soak Up The Sun". Way to go, aunt Sheryl! :)
Maroon 5 may be looking at their second Top-10 at the rate they're going!
Fuel continue their amazing suprise chart run with "Falls On Me". Despite flopping on Alternative, it has set a new highest peak for any Fuel single on CHR/Pop already at #18. Climbing above #18 may prove exceedingly difficult now, nevertheless an impressive chart run for Fuel.
Finally...Limp Bizkit, going Top 30 with a terrible cover of a classic by The Who? :'(
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

how about Kimberley Locke? she continues to rack up the adds and although her spin gains aren't currently in the top 20, it IS still gaining, and the avg. gain is still pretty high. how far is this gonna go!

Way to go, aunt Sheryl! :) I'd count "Picture" as a big hit of hers. Technically it was Kid Rock's song but she played just as big a role in it vocally as he did. I guess it's a matter of opinion whether to count it as her biggest recent hit or not. That said, I really like "The First Cut is the Deepest" a lot and hope it continues to do well. :)

I hope "First Cut" hits #1 on Hot AC, forcing several Pop stations to increase their spins of the song if they're competing with a Hot AC station in the same market.
Switchfoot regained their bullet... +4.
So did JC Chasez >:(

I'm happily surprised about this. Who would have thought this would ever do better than Reuben or Clay's first singles?

I don't know what will happen yet in the #1 battle, if Outkast begins losing more by Thursday then I'd say Nickelback will get to #1 for 1 week, followed by Jessica Simpson for 1 week, possibly Britney for 1 week, and then Evanescence after that. That's a lot of #1's!! When was the last time a string of songs only spent 1 week each at #1? Go Sheryl Crow!! hopefully she can go top 10, ummm.... could this possibly be one of those surprise "Unwell's??" This song is the most universal song on the chart right now imo.

When was the last time a string of songs only spent 1 week each at #1? I know "When I'm Gone" and "Ignition" each spent a week at #1 in back-to-back weeks.

When was the last time a string of songs only spent 1 week each at #1? Here's a couple of times in recent chart history: 1998: Thank U - Alanis Morrissette Jumper - Third Eye Blind 2003: 3 Doors Down - When I'm Gone R. Kelly - Ignition (remix) Probably in the pre-PPW era there were many more songs in a row that hit #1 for only 1 week. These are the ones that I can remember though.

Yeah, you guys nailed the only three times this has happened in the PPW era. Prior to PPW, the last time back-to-back single-weekers happened was in 1991 ("Unbelievable" and "Right Here, Right Now" ). Of course, this type of thing happened quite frequently in the years preceding.

I would like if Kimberley Locke can continue to pick up spins. I love "8th World Wonder," to death. It's such a beautiful and refreshing track. I'll be so sad if it bombs.

Linkin Park's bullet going back up to close to +650... and 97 stations are now playing Nelly's "Work It"... Did this song even go for adds? It just blew up all of a sudden...

Linkin Park's bullet is now about the same as that of "My Immortal" and "My Immortal" I just don't see as a #1 hit, it seems too below tempo to be a chart-topper. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

H NELLY Work It (Remix) +641 97 I'm surprised to see this randomly picking up because it came out like a year ago, didn't it? Did it just go for adds? It's actually not that bad.

I am shocked to see "Work It" remix becoming so big. After the failure of "Iz U" I thought we were rid of his talentless brand of dull and never ending annoying music.

I'm happily surprised about this. Who would have thought this would ever do better than Reuben or Clay's first singles? Well it seems unsurprising ex post, since when you really think about it, Ruben caters to the Urban & Urban AC market and Clay caters to the AC market, so Kimberley's song (which I haven't heard, but have read several people describing it as a pop song) should in fact peak higher on the pop chart. I'll give another example. If a song by the next American Idol or runner-up who looks like Scooter Girl is a Shania Twain cover that hits #40 on the Country chart, would anyone say it's surprising that it bests Kelly Clarkson's peak of #50 or so on the Country chart?

I just realized that if when Britney Spears slows down (which I'm expecting and hoping for!), Linkin Park have what looks pretty much like a home run to #1.

This also resulted in some rather fast falls from #1.
