I really care what most of the ones that post on the LATIN forum think besides her loyal fans.
We all know Fotografia was a huge hit and what-not but I honestly have not heard a thing about No Hay Igual. It's not because of how much I dislike Calle 13 lol but I really haven't heard the song or anything about it but the little press she got when making the video.
So, now that has been confirmed that Nelly is doing an all spanish album record, can she pull it? Can she pull a succesfull spanish album not just in the US but in Mexico, Venezuela etc? Can she be the next Shakira? Or will she be another Thalia?
Please elaborate.

I think so. If the album isn't full of reggeaton or hip-hop songs she'll be fine.

She must be a stupid idiot to think that reggeaton is what latin music is all about. I hope you heard wrong because I read an article about this in October and she said that some of her favorite latin artists were CafΓ© Tacuba, Julieta Venegas, Luis Miguel, Kinky and Paulina Rubio.

I think for anybody to have a successful crossover they have to be completely comfortable singing and speaking in whatever language they're going to try and break into. Nelly's spanish is truly atrocious therefore I doubt she can pull it off, but I'm rooting for her. She's talented and pretty hot! ;)

Or she could pull a Jennifer Lopez and suck ass in both languages! Well, she doesn't suck in English so that's out of the question. My answer to this is yes. I think she will find success in the Latin market with the album. With better songs than No Hay Igual and the right English songs being translated, she could do it.

Yes, she can. She's one of those artists who can pull off anything in my eyes. She knows about 5 languages!

I think she can pull off a successful crossover with good writing, good production, and of course, the right singles must be chosen.

They played "Te Busque" on the Spanish AC radio station my parents listen to. is that a single? either way, I think it's a sign that Latin radio might be open to Nelly given the right material, though she'd have to do a song that's not with Juanes or reggaeton-inspired to see if that's true.

Or she could pull a Jennifer Lopez and suck ass in both languages! -DEAD- That was a CLASSIC! LMAO! But talking about the crossover, I think Nelly can pull it damn fine if she takes some time to actually get herself into the latin music and culture to sort it out and put a lot of different styles in the album. One thing people really dont see is that the latin market is imense and it has A LOT of differences on sounds, styles, the whole thing. But since Nelly is truly one talented lady who doesnt really do things just for the sake of doing, I'm sure she might get herself fully into that and just grabs a bit of everything latin has to offer. She just needs a great variety of material on the album and a great opening single that hopefully wouldnt be too cliche and following into Shakira's singles footsteps. She'd do just damn fine!
