I loooooove "This Love"!! ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0270.gif) I really hope it gets to #1! I'm so happy for their album, which rose from #30 to #13 on the latest Hits Albums Chart, despite a slight decrease in sales. The article says their SNL performance helped them, which it did, but they failed to mention the explosion of "This Love" onto pop radio as another factor. I'm thinking about maybe picking up their album, if I can find it for a decent price. If it's anything more than $16.99 I wouldn't get it, and I wouldn't want to download a rock album, lol. I haven't bought a rock CD in a LONG time (unless you consider Michelle Branch "rock")

Someone turned on the rudeness! ;) Although, I have to agree, I don't think either of those two songs will be the #1 of 2004. Both artists have upcoming singles that will rob airplay from these songs. Well, you roll your eyes when people say ridiculous things; I ask them what they're smoking. To each his own! :) By the way, "robbing" those songs of airplay? I don't think it counts as "robbing" if everyone's glad (and relieved) when airplay for those songs start to go down more.

HDD is wrong, their SNL performance doesn't effect them until next weeks chart. The big jump this week was because of "This Love".

If people went out on Sunday to buy Songs About Jane after watching Maroon5 on SNL on Saturday Night, then HDD isn't wrong. The full impact might only register next week, so Maroon5 might make the Top 10 next week.

Husband: Honey, i am going to wake up early on the only day when i actually don't have to wake up early so i can go out and buy Maroon 5's album, that was an amazing performance just a second ago
Wife: Good idea, it would be stupid to buy this album on a weekday when we usually go shopping.

Fefe Dobson is down to +22. If she gets passed by 3 Doors Down, passes Jason Mraz, and Simple Plan goes recurrent then that will move Fefe up one more spot to make the Top 40.

Lots of people go to the mall and/or Walmart on Sundays. And who said anything about waking up early? Some places don't even open until noon on Sunday.

Looks like Avril Lavigne's ''Don't Tell Me'' will enter the Top 50 by the weekend! Aren't they releasing the song way too early? Avril's new album is not coming out until mid-May.

geez, I must be the only one not crazy about "This Love". ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) The song is mildly ok, however, it's not that astoundingly terrific as to garner such a ridiculously high bullet (+1000). It's already entered the top 10. >:( Sheryl Crow deserved that spot more than them. Anyway, I highly doubt the song is going to ignite their album sales. If Harder To Breathe, which was a far superior song didn't do it, then "This Love" certainly isn't going to either.

Except for the fact that I believe every single person I know prefers This Love to HTB and it has already bumped their album to peak positions that HTB never gave them (Which does make sense-a lot of people will probably buy it after loving one song rather than going out on a limb and buying the cd after one single) Most people I know say HTB was the catchy, stupid, fad song thats funny for awhile but gets annoying. This Love is the actual quality. (I like both songs-like This Love a tad more)

Anyway, I highly doubt the song is going to ignite their album sales. It already has... Songs About Jane has made big jumps in the past couple of weeks.

Well, for the first time since Pulse Music Board started, "Here Without You" is out of the Top 10! It's been replaced by Maroon 5's "This Love", a song which apparently, many here predict to be as big as HWY. Both Twista and Sheryl Crow are also eyeing the Top 10...
The greatest gainer, Chingy, is also making some big jumps..."One Call Away" definitely also looks to be a future Top 10 hit...

Avril Lavigne looks like she'll be in the top 40 by her add date, which is 3/16. So far my stations haven't begun playing the song. 3 Doors Down enters the top 40!! Michelle Branch however isn't looking too lucky, I don't know if she'll even make the top 40 with this one.
I don't think "This Love" will become as big as "Here Without You" but I think it has a decent shot of going to #1, but it won't have the longtivity like "HWY" has had. And don't forget about Fuel eyeing the top 10, if they keep up their gains they'll soon pass Sheryl Crow. Katy Rose is finally picking up, but I sure hope this doesn't effect Avril's airplay, I don't see "Overdrive" becoming a huge hit, but I could see it making at least the top 30, I don't know about the top 20, it's kind of catchy, but it's honestly not that impressive of a single, especially for a first single, her voice sounds too immature for radio imo.

I looked at the 2/27 chart on Radio and Records and the Top 5 Most Added were all by bands. How often does that happen?

I'm really pleasently surprised about the success of "This Love," I like the song a lot, but I was iffy of its radio-friendliness. It looks like we have another Smash Mouth/Sugar Ray/BNL on our hands.

Then again, I think they have quite a unique style that's hard to compare. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Wow, Britney Spears AND Evanescence have both fizzled down quite a bit. Unless Evanescence pick back up again, they are going to miss #1 with Britney Spears maintaining six hundred spins or so ahead of "My Immortal"
Britney Spears may well lose her bullet when she goes #1 due to default of "With You". Usher seems bound to chase through the competition within the next three weeks and steal the top spot with the way all the singles above him are slowing.
Jet now have the #4 Greatest Gaining Single at near +500. They may reach the Top 10 in a month and a half at this rate, though with many singles sliding down the chart, their bullet may suddenly explode to +700 or more.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I would best relate them to Bare Naked ladies actually due to the unique style. Barenaked Ladies are unique but their music is not necessarily a genre of its own. They are generally pop-rock/folk-rock. Maroon 5's sound is hard to fathom...it's like Prince, the Neptunes, matchbox twenty, perhaps some of the Barenaked Ladies' quirkiness and Chicago jazz blended together. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Ouch for Janet Jackson... looks like she'll end up slipping to #21 this week, as she's about to be passed by Sarah Connor and Chingy.

It looks like we have another Smash Mouth/Sugar Ray/BNL on our hands. If Maroon 5 were here in the late '90s, both "Harder To Breathe" and "This Love" would have been alternative hits, especially the former song. Similarly to any current songs by the bands you mentioned, Maroon 5 basically only have a chance on pop and Hot AC. Looking at the pop chart, the top three songs all have +800 spins...that doesn't happen very often.

Next week, 3 things are most likely to happen
1. "Toxic" might go to #1 either bulleted or un bulleted, depending on how fast "With You" falls
2. "My Immortal" picks up a lot of steam, while Britney only goes to #1 durring the weekday and Evanescence grabs the spot before sunday night
3. "With You" stays at #1 as "Toxic" begins to fizzle out and isn't capable of reaching #1.

William Hung: "She Bangs" is an instant impact at Number 205 with 8 spins. Evan & Jaron: "What She Likes" goes from 118 to 113 and from 47 to 55 spins. It has had a low spin total for a long time. I don't know if it ever went for adds.
