The battle for numbero uno is on between Britney and Jessica. It will all depend on how much Jessica can slow down and Britney can accelerate. Its going to be very interesting to see. I hope that Britney can make Jessica's stay at #1 a VERY short one

What I find wierd is how OutKast's bullet is slowly increasing...it won't make a difference to anything, but just thought I'd point that out.
I hope 3DD can make one more week in the Top 10...I know the song's been around forever, but it's grown on me like anything. If it leaves this coming week, either Twista or Maroon 5 (check out the way they're racing up the chart!) will go Top 10.

If it leaves this coming week, either Twista or Maroon 5 (check out the way they're racing up the chart!) will go Top 10. By the looks of it, that likely won't happen, as Twista, Maroon 5 and Sheryl Crow are cruising on up (it'll be an interesting race to see who makes Top 10 next Sunday)and "Hey Ya", the closest single above "Here Without You" without a bullet, is still over a thousand spins away. This week, look for two new Top 30 debuts: Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" and Cassidey's "Hotel" with R. Kelly. Are Evanescence showing signs of wear that can keep them from going #1? After "My Immortal" was the #1 gaining single much of last week, it has now slipped to #5 with +604, weaker than the +706 bullet for "Toxic", a position above "My Immortal" at #1. Jet continue to crusade up the chart, making a dramatic Top 40 debut this week and bound to go Top 30 this week. With a +459 bullet, the 10th largest on the current chart, it is currently Top-10 bound. Which week has "Falls On Me" entered? Fuel continues their amazing chart run by earning a new peak position and a promising bullet that possibly may even send them Top 15 bound. However, they may be at risk to backward-bullet also, with Hilary Duff and Janet Jackson coming on strong and Nick Cannon and Sarah Connor not far behind. Looks like Nelly may be coming on back to the top of the charts with his latest re-mix. Anyone else think "Work It" could crossover to Alternative? Simple Plan will go recurrent this Sunday most likely with "Perfect" (assuming it doesn't re-gain its bullet like "Addicted" did) Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Poor Kimberley Locke. Her bullet has been steady for a while, but it's simply not string enough, and faster records are constantly pushing her back.
Fefe Dobson looks done.

Now if only the three stations holding out would start playing it...

Thank goodness for the new topic. I hated having to click more than once to get to the last page of the old topic.
Twista has once again slowed down, but should still reach the Top 10 nonetheless, just not this week.
Sheryl Crow, however, has a more difficult task.

Now if only the three stations holding out would start playing it... this song is really catchy. I remember getting the album what seems like ages and ages ago and not caring for it that much. Then Harder To Breathe hit and I thought "Well that was better than I remembered" now the same for This Love. Top 10 should be easy for this song.

I am really surprised that Britney is maintaining those high gains at this stage in her chart life. Way to go for pop PDs realizing that this song is a smash hit! ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0270.gif) It looks like there could be a serious battle between Britney & Jessica if not this week then next week for #1 on the pop chart. For some reason, i think "My Immortal" is about to hit a wall. Meanwhile, Gigolo continues it's ridiculous gains! >:( That is one of the worst songs in the top 40 right now.

The 3/5/04 chart will be the 19th week for this song. I can't believe this is still going.
There's no way that song will even come close to making the alternative chart.
Yay, Rooney is now in the top 50!:)

There's no way that song will even come close to making the alternative chart. What I mean is that this is recorded like a rock song, just like "99 Problems" is. In fact, though I could tell it was Nelly, it didn't really sound like a rap, it was re-mixed like a straight-forward rock song like "Fighter" If Eminem could impact Alternative in a significant way, I wouldn't be suprised if this suddenly dented the Top 50 on Alternative. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Fefe Dobson needs to be re-fueled.......
Maroon 5 to number one! Over +1000 by Wednesday, maybe even tomorrow!
It's fine that Usher is in the top 10, but he better not peak any higher than #5-#4, this song is easily a burn-out.
Kanye West and Five For Fighting need to explode soon.....I predict Five For Fighting peaks at #19, although I wish it would peak at around #9-#8.
Why is Good Charlotte falling SO fast? -777? They used to fall slowly songs like with "Girls & Boys".....what is up with this? I wanted this to go Top 10.....I'm sure all of you are sick of this anyway. Maybe this is a sign that the whole Simple Plan/Good Charlotte/All-American Rejects type of music is finally fading away......but similar sounding music is going for adds this week.....Yellowcard and Blink 182. Will this be a problem for these 2 new songs (that by the way I love) or will these 2 new songs revive the Good Charlotte type of music??
And the only PURE radio filler on the chart right now is "Me, Myself, & I" The only reason stations are playing it is because it's by Beyonce. The song has no interest and is complete formula. I thought WXKS was going to hold off on this song completely (being a good station,) but they finally added it to daytime airplay. But they've only had it on night shift since mid-January, when most stations added it November-December.

It's hard for me to believe that 2003 was such a short time ago, when I hated almost the entire chart. Now, I'm almost completely satisfied. I actually like 7 of the top 10 songs, and there seems to be a great variety of songs moving up the chart. Maroon 5, Jet, the Darkness, Sheryl Crow, Janet Jackson... I hope that this pop music diversity continues. I'm actually enjoying radio for the first time since 2000.

Not too surprised with Chingy's gains (+900 or so), this should easily outpeak his other two.
I don't think Usher's song is that good, sure hope it does stall soon.
It would be nice to see Maroon 5 at #1 in the near future.

Actually, Good Charlotte songs usually fall pretty quickly. The last two, for example, peaked at #11 and didn't even make it to recurrent. Their first single peaked at #7 and even that barely lasted long enough to go recurrent.

I think Noah is referring to the ROCK remix of Nelly's "Work It". There are multiple versions of the remix. Our station plays the rock version with lots of guitars, but a nearby station plays the straight up pop version (and before anyone asks, it's NOT the version on Nellyville). Which version appears on the CD--the rock or pop version?

It looks like there could be a serious battle between Britney & Jessica if not this week then next week for #1 on the pop chart. It can't be this week, unless you expect Britney to gain 800 spins over last week and Jessica Simpson to lose spins. About "Work It" - the rock remix is not an official release, and I don't think it's on any CD. Who's responsible for this remix anyway? The one on Da Derrty Reinventions on whatever it's called is very, very similar to the one on Nellyville. (Hardly a "remix"). Derrty is a ripoff!

And now greatest gainer with +958!!!
I think this song should've been released slightly closer to spring, but whatever, it is catching like wildfire! :o

In fact, I think they waited too long to release the follow-up to "Harder To Breathe". It was originally released almost a year ago, so I think they are right on track releasing this. "She Will Be Loved" would give them a hat trick of hits I'm sure. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I agree with everything you said. It's been 11 months since I first started hearing "Harder to Breathe," I've been waiting for a new song since last fall. I think "This Love" could just go #1! It's now at +1022!! I never expected to get that big :o "She Will Be Loved" could give them another big hit, if they have another single it will probably be released in the summer. "She Will Be Loved" could be a big fall hit! It reminds be of Shawn Mullins "Lullaby" which I believe did very well, I know top 5, but I forgot if it was #1, I've lost the charts website, could someone give me that link again!

HMV didn't have Maroon 5's CD in but I put it on order so I'll have it soon hopefully. For some reason, I'm looking forward to getting the CD. I have high expectations for it and it's all because of 'This Love'! It's a great song!

Yeah, I remember some article saying that Adam Levine (lead singer of Maroon5) thought "This Love" could go to #1 and I remember thinking there wouldn't be a chance in hell. But now, as it's the greatest gainer and with only three stations left to conquer, it looks like this will be one of the biggest hits of the year.

Wow! Maybe it might even finish in the Top 3 for the year-end countdown.

But now, as it's the greatest gainer and with only three stations left to conquer, it looks like this will be one of the biggest hits of the year. Well, "This Love" has already conquered the first major step: getting added and noticed. Now there just remains the final big step: longevity. Because "This Love" is gaining at breakneck speed, in order for the single to make it into the Year End countdown, it's going to have to at some point slow down and lose very slowly once it gets to the top. As it is, I doubt "This Love" will finish the year at #1 and instead will be a three-way contest between "Hey Ya", "Here Without You" and a fight between "Numb" and "My Immortal" Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Because he didn't specify a format, I interpreted him to mean the Billboard Hot 100, which obviously won't happen. I don't remember the exact quote. Anyway, a Number 1 on CHR-Pop would still be great for them. How come the two singles and "She Will Be Loved" get talked about a million times starting from before "This Love" was released but nobody talks about any other songs from the album? If I didn't know better I would think the album only had three songs or something.

Someone turned on the rudeness! ;) Although, I have to agree, I don't think either of those two songs will be the #1 of 2004. Both artists have upcoming singles that will rob airplay from these songs.
