What's with the recent fast turnover of #1s anyway. I predict Jet will be #1 this Sunday and Linkin Park #1 next Sunday.

What's with the recent fast turnover of #1s anyway. I predict Jet will be #1 this Sunday and Linkin Park #1 next Sunday. I was thinking the same thing for Jet two days ago, and also saw the conceivable possibility of "Lying From You" doing it. That would make 6 different #1 songs the past 6 weeks: I Miss You The Reason Last Train Home Love Song Cold Hard Bitch Lying From You I doubt that has ever been done on an R&R chart. |

"Megalomaniac" would have to be the most impressionable of all Alternative #1's this year so far.
"I Miss You" has its sensitive charm, "The Reason" displays Hoobastank's finest songwriting yet that can relate to any gentle lovestruck spirit, and "Last Train Home" is a warm welcome from Lostprophets.
However, "Megalomaniac" exceeds them all in terms of importance. It well represents the overall atmosphere filling our world currently, one of a mix of fear, anger and consolation. Many are crying out for our "megalomaniac" to step down. This song psychologically moves them all.
As for the others...well..."Numb" sounds just like the rest of Linkin Park's recycled formula rock, and 311's cover of "Lovesong" is quite boring, lacking both the metronome and Rob Smith's quirkiness that animates each Cure song.

Incubus! I like Blink182's but not as much. 'Numb' is old for me and 'The Reason' is still too new. Not familiar with 311 nor Lostprophets but plan on giving Lostprophets a chance.

Blink-182 - I Miss You: A[/color] (made #1 on my chart, and for seven weeks!)
Incubus - Megalomaniac A (#3 chart hit.)
Lostprophets - Last Train Home: B+ (#9 chart hit)
311 - Love Song: C+ (My opinion echoes SingingSparrow's comments. But at least it sounds alternative, the reason why I'm okay with it there.)
Linkin Park - Numb: C+ (#11 chart hit. Shouldn't have done nearly as well, since it's actually very mediocre.)
Hoobastank - The Reason: D (too Hot AC for Hoobastank)

Am I the only one who thinks that 311's cover is far superior to the original? It sounds stronger (i.e. has more conviction) and fresher.
311 has ZERO votes, whereas the rest have more or less the same number of votes! :o
