I'm not sure what exactly happened with the old thread, but for some reason it's not accepting any replies. Here is a new thread to take care of that.
Well, after getting some recommendations from the public, it's time to have a recap of last night's performances. Remember, we are down to only seven, the lowest amount of people performing in the same night so far this whole competition and it's going to just keep getting smaller. Well let's get things started.
This week's theme is with recommendations of going way back, this week, we will be doing the 1960's. Well lets get going to hear the recaps.
Seal- Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye (Steam)
Crowd Rating: 2
Judges Comments:
Randy: Seal, way to kick off such a strange night. You sounded soulful for the first time in a while. You sounded great, yeeeah dog, that's him dog, Seal.
Paula: "Seal, sounds like you started tonight off with a bang"
Simon: "Hmmmm, I have nothing to say. It wasn't great, buti t wasn't necesserily bad. Hopefully you'll escape the weekly cut, you've been awfully close for a while"
Celine Dion- We've Got Tonight (Bob Seger)
Crowd Rating: 4
Judges Comments:
Randy: "Celine, what can I say, for most, it was great, for you it was aight, you added some great vocal to the song, and not bad dog"
Paula: "Beautiful voice, beautiful song, awesome"
Simon: "Celine that was a decent performance if it was 70's night you nimwit. You should remember, you were probably about 30 or so in the 70's. I'm kidding! However, Celine, it was all right, but nothing too remarkable. It was okay"
Rob Thomas- Honky Tonk Woman (Rolling Stones)
Crowd Rating: 3
Judges Comments:
Randy: "Ha ha ha yeeeeah dog, that was some Honky Tonk dog! Yeeeah Dog, great job Rob"
Paula: "Rob, keep that up, and you'll have no problem being here for another month"
Simon: "I thought it was all right. Plenty of energy, plenty of Mick, but not too much of Rob. I wasn't expecting too much extra added to the song, but maybe something"
Paula: Well isn't it a cover?
Simon: yes, but you just can't copy the song. That's what cover bands are for."
Toni Braxton- Keep Me Hangin' On (Supremes)
Crowd Rating: 6
Judges Comments:
Randy: "Toni, I thought you sounded aight. Wasn't your greatest performance, not so sure about the song selection, not reallly your vocal range"
Paula: "I disagree, I thought it was great"
Simon: "Yes. Toni, not the song for you to sing. It just, that performance didn't do it for me at all. I could go to Karaoke Night down the street and hear the same thing. Good Luck advancing"
Sarah McLachlan- The Lion Sleeps Tonight (Tokens)
Crowd Rating: 7
Judges Comments:
Randy: "Wow.....Sarah, the last song I''d ever expect you to sing.Dog, that just, hmmm, it just wasn't your song dog."
Paula: "Sarah, I love that song, good effort"
Simon: "Sarah, I'll be honest with you. You better pray that you mkae it through this week. You should be feeling the same amount of embarrasement from that perfromance as George Michael had in the bathroom. If that performance was from anyone but Sarah McLachlan, no question they would be gone. Absolutely pathetic."
Amy Lee- Downtown (Petula Clark)
Crowd Rating: 5
Judges Comments:
Randy: "Yeeeah Amy, first time I've heard a sound like this f rom you, and I loved it dog. You know, you may surprise people, may go a little further than expected"
Paula: "Amy, you look so vintage, so great, great work"
Simon: "I think you look like a time traveler threw up on you, but the performance wasn't bad. I think more than anyone you have grown in this competition week by week, but the question is, does the rest of the voters?"
Rivers Cuomo- Turn! Turn! Turn! (Byrds)
Crowd Rating: 1
Judges Comments:
Randy: <stands up and claps> "All right dog, you finally got it right. I don't know if it will ever happen again. But it's your night Rivers, it's you dog. Yeeeaaaaaah!"
Paula: < tears > "Rivers, one of the most emotional performances I've seen a while, very respectable. Ha, especially the suit"
Simon: "Randy stole my words for once, excellent job Rivers"
