This is the sample, taken from WIOG's 90s at Noon hour:
Boyz II Men - Motownphilly Blues Traveler - Run-around Ace of Base - The Sign Blessid Union of Souls - Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me For Me) ---Commercials--- Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby Beck - Loser ---Commercials--- Stereo MCs - Connected Ugly Kid Joe - Everything About You SWV - Right Here (Human Nature) Will Smith - Gettin' Jiggy Wit It Gin Blossoms - Hey Jealousy Boyz II Men - On Bended Knee
NOTES: They played Snack Attack (a lunch giveaway) for "Connected". They played the song and you had to correctly guess the title and artist. The choice (Other) is for anything that means you're not sure one way or the other.

I'm not really fond of "Motownphilly", but they use that one often. I enjoyed hearing "The Sign", especially since they don't use that one often. They played the hell out of "Hey Leonardo" when it was a current, so that one comes as no surprise. "Connected" I hadn't previously heard before. Same with "Everything About You"; both caught me by surprise. I liked hearing "Right Here" - I prefer that to "Weak". I can't stand hearing "Hey Jealousy" anymore - they've had several bigger hits, but it's as though only this even exists. I don't see why they'd begin AND end with Boyz II Men singles, but "On Bended Knee" was played as an on-air request (and it's their other song that gets played often on here). Overall, I think the positives of this sample outweigh the negatives, but personal preferences plays a big part (as well it should!).

I voted for bad, it just seems too male dominated.

Bad. I can't even tolerate half of those songs.

This reminds me that I'm glad that Three Days Grace's I Hate Everything About You wasn't a cover...
That would have made my brain implode.

I don't want a 90's station thats going to play early 90's noveltly like Vanilla Ice, Hammer, or NKOTB.
Songs from this sample hour from SWV, Gin Blossoms, Beck, and Boyz II Men would be more what I'd want to hear. But it wouldn't be worth it to sit through the novelty cheese.
Also, 1999 was only 5 years ago. I'm still tired of many of the main hits from that year.
Furthermore, there's a big musical gap between Late 90's and Early 90's. A fan of one isn't necessarily a fan of the other. I'm only into mid/late 90's with a few songs from the earlier part of the decade I like.
I'd also appreciate a station that played moderate semi-forgotten but still-loved hits instead of just songs that were Billboard or Pop Top 10's and ones that I still hear constantly as golds on my Pop/HAC/Urban/Alternative stations.

you can't really sample an entire decade in one hour.. they'd be better off choosing 4 or 5 very different artists and two or three by each.... that'd be cool.

The songs are alright, but I doubt there's very much day-to-day variety in this 90's lunch hour because nearly all those songs were smash hits.

I've never asked for an aircheck of 70s-90s retro but I've gotten a few anyway they are fun to listen to once in a while. I can hear plenty of 90s music on KQMQ so having a retro 90s hour in Honolulu would be unnecessary. I will be getting an aircheck of WIOG soon.
