*****Special thanks to those who clarified Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" also topping the chart*****
The following are the six #1 CHR/Pop hits for the latter half of 2004.
The top three favorites will be selected for the final round, where they will be joined up with the two favorites from the first half of 2004.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

"She Will Be Loved" over "Breakaway". But they're number one and two on my list of the year.

The #1s trailed off a lot in the second half of the year. :-\ I'll say. Only one of these songs is one I'm certain I wouldn't change the station on. I'll let the rankings speak for themselves. 1) She Will Be Loved: A 2) The Reason: B- 3) Over and Over: C- 4) Leave (Get Out): F 5) Breakaway: D- 6) Pieces of Me: D-

Breakaway!!! Did Breakaway hit #1 at pop, did I miss something? I don't remember that song ever getting #1. I remember Maroon 5 and Avril getting #1 then nelly after that I don't know where Kelly fits in all of this...?

Avril never officially got #1 because Maroon 5 took it back just in time for the final update on Sunday (I think the gap between the two songs was 5 spins). The next week, Kelly passed Maroon 5 on Sunday afternoon for #1 and held it through Sunday night (also by 5 spins, I believe). Nelly passed it and took #1 in the first update on Monday morning.

I chose "Breakaway". I thought some of those other songs were good too, but I really liked that one.

***********UPDATE************
Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" is a shoo-in for the semi-final round.
However, the race is too close to call for the two other qualifiers. Maroon 5's "She Will be Loved" has a slight advantage over the others with six votes, and will likely be qualified, with the third qualifying position up for grabs, with Ashlee Simpson leading the others by a thread.
This poll will remain opened until tomorrow at noon, and if there is a tie, the winner will be decided based upon the ranking of the singles in responses.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

6. The Reason
(large gap)
5. She Will Be Loved 4. Over and Over 3. Leave (Get Out) 2. Pieces of Me 1. Breakaway
I would've voted for Pieces of Me had this come earlier in the year. But then came Breakaway... ;)
