Best #1 Alternative Hit of 2004 (Part I of V)

Wow! If you're a big fan of the Alternative format, this was a GREAT year for chart-topping variety!

This year spawned 16 #1 hits for the format, easily the best in a while.

With this in mind, 16 will make the distributing uneven, so I felt this format should be polled like this:

1) The best way to poll this format is to go 6-5-5, selecting the top three from the first set and the top two from the final two sets
2) Have those seven winners face off and pick the top four
3) In a final 5th round, the four winners there will have a final showdown.

Linkin Park's "Numb" is not eligible for this contest, topping the chart in December of last year.

"I Miss You" by far, even though "Love Song" also peaked at #1 on my chart and "The Reason" spent 9 weeks in my Top 3 (peaked at #2).

I really like 'Last Train Home' and 'The Reason' (even though the latter was overplayed),

I didn't really care for 'Love Song' or 'Cold Hard Bitch' much, they were just okay for me, and I think 'Megalomaniac' is wanna the best singles of the year because it was soooo not what you expected of Incubus and it turned out very good.

Buy my vote goes to the only one that just gives me shivers everytime I hear it cuz it's that good. 'I Miss You', I never expected Blink would ever make a CLASSIC, this is it.

We may have as much as a statistical four-way tie on us here.

Currently, Blink-182's "I Miss You" has a slight advantage with 6 votes, with Incubus' "Megalomaniac" and Lostprophet's "Last Train Home" tied at 5 apiece, and Hoobastank's "The Reason" earning four.

With this alarming dead heat race, this poll may have to be extended beyond its noon deadline tomorrow in the event of a tie...or two. There will then be a decision based on average overall ranking of the singles.

First of all, Blink-182's "I Miss You and Lostprophet's "Last Train Home" have qualified for our semi-final round, so cheers to these singles!

However, we have a tie between Incubus' "Megalomaniac" and Hoobastank's "The Reason" for our final qualifying position.
