The following are the mid-year 2004 #1 Alternative hits.
Again, the top two favorites will be selected for the semi-final round.

I guess "Float On." Too bad "Love Song" or "The Reason" weren't in this group instead of against "I Miss You" which would be impossible for anything to beat according to me!!!

I can understand what you mean. I just feel the easiest way to do these polls is, unless a format had eight or less #1 hits, is to eenly distribute the singles from the time of year. Oh, I definitely think you're doing the polls the best way :) I basically just meant this group of #1's is particularly weaker than the other two in my opinion.

I think the early part of the year is my least favorite of the three sets. I never liked 311's "Love Song" and Hoobastank just bores me personally. The latter part of the year is my favorite. This one was pretty easy.
'Slither' was very good, among the best this year, but it didn't bring anything new to the table, 'Ch-Check' was ingenious, but grew repetitive after a while, LP and 3DG were good, but not great.
So my vote goes to 'Float On', one of the most unique songs of all to peak this year, plus I love Modest mouse.

Ew at all of these. But I'll give it to Modest Mouse because the song grew on me.

***********UPDATE************
Modest Mouse's "Float On" is officially a shoo-in for the semi-final round.
However, the race for the other qualifying position is too close to call, with Three Days Grace's "Just Like You" having a slight advantage currently with 4 votes, though this can change any minute till tomorrow's deadline at noon.
Again, should there be a tie for the final qualifying position, the winner will be based on overall average ranking.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton
