These are 3 songs that follow-up big Summer Alternative hits from 3 bands that have often been grouped together.
This is a no-brainer for me, "Mr. Brightside"

This is really hard. I love these 3 songs. I guess I'm voting for "This Fire" since I hated "Take Me Out".

01. Mr. Brightside (love it!) 02. Ocean Breathes Salty (love it, just not as much) 03. This Fire (one of the last songs I'd have chosen to be 2nd single)

It's just called "Ocean Breathes Salty".
It's very close for me between that and "This Fire", so I broke the tie on account of "OBS" not having any votes.

I'll grade them now:
"Mr Brightside" A[/color] "This Fire" B+ "Ocean Breathes Salty" B

Ocean Breathes Salty.
I think I may have burned myself out on Franz and the Killers for a while.
Good News For People Who Love Bad News is a classic though that I'll love for years.

The Killers' "Mr. Brightside" is the best song out of these three. Followed by Modest Mouse and then Franz.

Three excellent songs here. Even though "Mr. Brightside" is the only one that isn't better than its precedessor, it's still heads above the other two here.

This is really tough for me. Initially I liked "This Fire" best but it hasn't worn on me as well as "Ocean Breathes Salty", which keeps growing on me, so I voted for Modest Mouse.
If it were among their first singles, it would be even harder to choose. The Killers might even win this time, but it would probably depend on how I felt at the moment.

"Ocean Breathes Salty" impressed me the most.
Modest Mouse: "Ocean Breathes Salty": A The Killers: "Mr. Brightside": B Franz Ferdinand: "This Fire": C ("This Fire" is the only track from their debut album I find bland and I just don't feel.)
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I loved "Take Me Out", but "This Fire" was a weak choice. Good song, but weak. "Ocean Breathes Salty" and "Mr. Brightside" are both great but The Killers get my vote 'cause they're cooler.

If Franz Ferdinand had released "The Dark of the Matinee" or "Michael" as the second single instead, they'd be par with The Killers on Alternative airplay performance. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I think "This Fire" is much better than "Michael." "The Dark of the Matinee" is way ahead of both of them and I agree it would have been much more succesful than "TF," but it still falls substantially short of "Mr. Brightside."

Brightside.
If Matinee had been the second single from FF, I would have voted for that easily.

I like 'em all! I'd have to give the slight edge to Modest Mouse over the Killers.

All are decent, but:
"Ocean Breathes Salty" is one step above "This Fire". And "Mr. Brightside" is one step above "Ocean".
So my vote goes to "Mr. Brightside".
