I see that many people here adore BoBD, but I actually like American Idiot much better, so I wanted to know if I was alone here...

I like both, but I prefer "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" by far.

Don't want to be an American Idiot...
I don't know, it just is. I mean, they're both great, this just pops better.

BOBD has a great melody. American Idiot is just rubbish, IMO.

"Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" is the only Green Day song I can stand.

American Idiot owns BOBD because the song's actually about something meaningful and it hits its target..

American Idiot owns BOBD because the song's actually about something meaningful and it hits its target.. Either that, or you just can't bring yourself to love a song that everyone else on the board loves.

I love both, but I went with "American Idiot" since it's losing by so much.

Either that, or you just can't bring yourself to love a song that everyone else on the board loves. Well, my grade for BOBD is an A-, so your answer would be the former. I'm even happy for Green Day scoring their first top ten in 9 years (though I do wish the song would let up a bit). It is just a distant second to "American Idiot".

I think crash46 just likes going against the norm because he enjoys attention. with that being said, I also prefer "American Idiot". I don't see the huge deal with "BOBD".. it's good, but not amazing

It's close, but Boulevard is going to be known as a Green Day classic in all circles.

American Idiot is a song you can listen to and never get tired of.
BOBD is a song that wears off after a while.
Granted, they're both great songs, and in a way, I like American Idiot better, but BOBD just has that...charm to it.
Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

Both tracks are strong.
But it's no suprise "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" is the single that's exploding. The whole album segues together so well, and BOBD is a track anyone can relate to, whether you agree with the politics behind the album or not.
The significance of the track is that characters like St. Jimmy, Jesus of Suburbia and Whatsername find themselves on this metaphorical road if they don't conform to the American Idiot lifestyle. It's like a cultural oubilette. Yet the single is euphemized so it doesn't sound so political, so anyone can relate to this type of quandary we find ourselves in often.
"American Idiot", though also a quality track, caters to the political fans of the album, and just isn't as striking to a mass audience.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton
