Today I received The Radio Book 2006-2007 which I bought. It says Clear Channels owns 1,175 stations which is more than the next 8 companies combined. Here are the Top 20 companies in terms of number of stations owned (I'm not posting numbers or too much information because it must be copyrighted):
1. Clear Channel
2. Cumulus
3. Citadel
4. CBS Radio
5. Salem
6. Entercom
7. Saga
8. Cox
9. Regent
10. Univision
11. ABC Radio
12. Radio One
12. NRG Media
14. Entravision
15. NextMedia
16. Nassau
17. Three Eagles
18. Triad
19. Multicultural
20. Beasley
The 48th, 49th, and 50th biggest companies own 25 stations each.
I'm very surprised to find out that Saga owns more stations than Cox and that NRG Media owns that many stations.
