These three young R&B divas were pretty much very different when they came out, but often compared for various reasons. Which debut was the most impressive, IYO?
I gotta go with Monica's album, even though the other two are pretty good to me. Monica's just had much more to love.

I own all 3 but I didn't vote. Back in 6th & 7th grade (when all of these came out), with a few exceptions, I skipped to the singles and never listened to the rest of the album. ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png) So I can't judge the albums as a whole.

Judging by the singles only, Brandy, but I won't vote since I haven't heard any of the full albums.

I pick Monica's "Miss Thang." That album is an R&B classic. She had a little something for everyone on their. The ballads were FIRE and the up-tempo's were great. I think I'm going to pop this one in. This album was full of potential single, "With You" being one I think should have been released.
Brandy's debut had too much filler. Aaliyah had good singles, but too much filler.

I love all 3, but Brandy and Monica particularly.
Brandy - a classic for me, one of the first albums I ever bought and the singles are all classics
Monica - great singles with a few great album tracks, a few filler songs and a bit long overall
Aaliyah

I would easily pair up Monica/Brandy.. They have similar styles...and both have rather decent vocal talents....
But, i'm sorry, Aaliyah beats them out. I've been a fan forever and I would say Aaliyah is one of the artist that has sorta made the singer/dancer/actor package standard. She came out with a whole unique style, and was able to do really heavy R&B music...whereas the other two tried to stay to mainstream....she has a super personality as well.....i guess her beauty was something to look at too....
However, Brandy HELLA impressed me with Almost Doesn't Count and Who Is She To You?

I've always hated Aaliyah (although ironically, she sings my favorite song.......EVER), so she out.
There's something about Brandy's personality I loathe, but the cd was very strong, the only cd she ever made worth buying.
But Monica wins easily. "Just One of Them Days", "Why I Love You So Much", and "Before You Walk Out Of My Life" were three of my top ten of the 90's

It's a toss-up between Brandy and Monica, but I gave Brandy a slight edge.

I'm not the best judge since I don't know many of the non-singles from these albums.. But based on the songs I do know well, it'd go something like this: Best Friend Brokenhearted At Your Best Before You Walk Out My Life Back and Forth Baby I Wanna Be Down Age Ain't Nothing But A Number Don't Take It Personal Why I Love You So Much Down With the Clique Like This and Like That
Brandy wins here. My two favorite songs by her. Overall, Aaliyah is #1 and Monica #2 though.

In this order... Aaliyah - She sang the hell out of "Street Thing" This song has more memorable non album tracks than the other two. Monica Brandy
