Some have said that Ashlee Simpson is a one hit wonder because "Shadow" was a dissapointing follow up. In my opinion, i don't think Ashlee Simpson is considered, or will be remembered as a one hit wonder. Usually a one hit wonder is an act that has one novelty song and poor album sales. Ashlee had neither! And plus, even though "LaLa" was a big flop, many will remember that hideous performance she gave at the Orange Bowl.
Even if Ashlee had poor album sales, i still wouldn't have considered her a one hit wonder, because even though "Shadow" dissapointed, i still think it did fairly.

Naw. People know "Shadow" and "LaLa", they just boycotted it because they let the media tell them what to think.
*shrug*

So far, I'd say yes...she climbed quick with Shadow, but fell faster than Get Right...(HAHA)
Then Lala, well, it needed payola to get as far as it got, and that wasn't far.

I would say definately yes... five years from now only Pieces of Me will be remembered.

Compared to Pieces Of Me, Shadow underperformed. I wouldn't call it a flop so I said no. I wouldn't count her out until her second album is released. She needs to take a LONG break. Make a movie or two then come back

lol, Eric, you're a trip. Pieces of Me overshadowed the Shadow, and La La didn't do very well. So, even though technically she's not a one hit wonder, I feel that's how she'll be considered unless she can get another noticable hit.

If this Autobiography era is her peak, I believe she'll be remembered as a one hit wonder musically.

Her next album will fail so bad to the point of not even funny..I hope worse than Vanessa Carlton/Diana DeGarmo..it's funny they can sing 10 times better than Ashlee..and their albums flop..while hers sells so much to the point of 'omg people buy this trash?' but yes, but no, shadow, i liked it..but she'll never have a hit again, that is for sure, unless she says i am not the best singer, i am cannot sing live, ETC.

I'm undecided. We'll have to see her status in years to come.

Uh, very easily so. It depends on her next album. If it flops badly, she will be a one hit wonder, no doubt.

I'm going to say "Undecided" and wait to see how her next album does, but at this time, yes, she is absolutely a one-hit wonder.
"Autobiography" has indeed sold very well despite "Pieces of Me" being the only single that'll be remembered. It's gone triple-platinum. That is certainly something that could hold up Ashlee's next release and encourage the promotion muscle.
But "Shadow" and "Lala"[/b] were both, clearly, flops. "Shadow" may have made the Top 20, but it tanked even faster than it rose up the chart to begin with. And "Lala" could barely make the Top 30.
Neither those follow-ups will be remembered.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Undecided. At this point, I'd say she's had one big hit and two very minor hits.

Yeah, you can't really say anyone's a one-hit wonder when said hit peaked less than a year ago. This is a label that's usually given out historically.

Yep. Both Shadow and Lala were flops and this album is dead.

One album wonder maybe...
But not a one hit wonder... a one hit wonder can't have sold so many albums and achieved such high recognition. Plus - she has 3 hits, they weren't all #1's but they were all hits.

if that SNL thing wouldnt have happened her album sales would probably have been 3.5 million by now.. That incident will always haunt her n she will always be remembered because of that.. She should play it safe 4 now n stick w/songs like "Pieces of Me" instead of trying 2 go rock..
This album has been a hit 4 her no matter if it sells more it has already sold 2.7+ million n will probably reach 3.0 million because of the exposure her reality show gives her..
In order 4 her next album 2 be a hit she needs..
1. Catchy songs like "Pieces of Me" w/Shadow type songs that album will die
2. Keep going w/her show.. That show is wat made ppl buy the album in the first place n it gives her exposure
3. stop talking about the SNL fiasco
If she follows all this that album will go 2X at the lowest

Plus - she has 3 hits, they weren't all #1's but they were all hits. "Hit" is kinda subjective really. I mean, if we're hearing a song that peaked at #15 on pop a year, or heck, even six months from now, then I'd say it's a hit. I mean, just because an artist charts two songs doesn't automatically exempt them from "one-hit wonder" status. The idea is that down the road most people only remember one song by the artist.

Definitely, unless she gets a #1 hit with her next album or something outrageous like that.

At the rate she's going, Ashlee will be lucky if she's not a one-album wonder. With that said, I'm not going to throw the towel on her yet. I'm suprised La La wasn't a bigger hit, though after SNL and the Orange Bowl, I can see why it wasn't.
