www1.allaccess.com/sounds/misteeqs.ramGetting some play at the bottom end of the CHR charts and should go for adds soon, they've been talking about giving the states a push for ages. Unlike most UK pop acts they seem really commited to spending time in American and pushing for success. This song deserves to cross over, it's an excellent RnB/Pop song. Alesha is a great MC. You may recognise her, she's the dancer in NERDs 'She wants to move' video. Hit #2 in the UK last year. The followup single 'Can't Get It Back' was either a Blaque cover or was covered by Blaque, I dunno.

It was a cover of Blaque's 2001 bomb.

This should do well. Z103 in Toronto played it months ago, and it was well entrenched in their top songs for a few weeks. It got onto my chart last summer and hit #6.

I don't like this and don't think it will do well in the US at all.

I think a remix could make it a hit. It just doesn't sound American enough, imo. It's a great song though. It peaked at #5 on my chart.

This is a great song, very poppy RnB a la Destiny's Child.
I've actually heard it a few times here in the U.S. as well, at random bars and lounges in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

I added that song to my playlist one year ago 3/31! I did not give it too many spins though. I don't think that they are ready to crossover to US market or should, that's the reality, look at what's not happening to Blue.

I think it's quite US sounding and hit-worthy. Smash in Australia.
"Can't Get It Back" was a very average song, sounded like filler.
Their first album was much much much better than the 2nd.
It's not hard to predict that a European artist will FLOP - it happens to them all regardless of song quality.

As bill said, it was played quite frequently on z103.5 here in Toronto back in what, October/November? It hit #1 on a few of their daily countdowns.
It's a hot song, IMO. I liked it alot.

www1.allaccess.com/sounds/misteeqs.ramWhat is it with Allaccess and mis-spelling european acts and/or their songs? SugaRbabes, Sarah ConnEr, and now they think Mis-Teeqs song is called 'ScandElous'

It's already #65 and doesn't go for adds till next week. Any chances of it cracking the top 40?

All Access will write the same artist and title in different ways. I already posted that Launch said Sugarbabies, which is worse than saying Sugarbabes. Billboard spelled Britney Spears wrong and VH1 spelled Jessica Simpson wrong, so it can happen to you even if you're famous in the United States.

It'll probably be a mix of their 2 UK albums, in which case it'll be very good. They've released a lot of great singles since they started out, and the first album was great. The second was a little filler-heavy, but i bet the bland tracks are removed in favour of the singles and strong album tracks from their debut.

They should release a two-disc album - the first cd being their new album and the second a mix of 'Lickin on Both Sides' and 'Eye Candy' just to double their sales. ;) I don't think they'll be releasing any of their garage tracks as singles any time soon...

If this does become a sizeable hit, i do wonder what the followup will be. 'Can't Get It Back' isn't that great, and if it flopped for Blaque why would a Mis-Teeq version do any better? 'Style' flopped in the UK and there were no other singles from 'Eye Candy'.
From their first album, maybe a remix of 'All I Want' would work. That track was HOT!

They're working on their 3rd album now so it'll probably be a newly recorded track as their 2nd single.

This song is great! It has a "watered" down R&B sound and a cheesy pop vibe that I like! lol!

Misteeq is a cheap rip off of a mix of Blaque and TLC. GROSS PUKE Blaque and TLC uh, where are they in the pop world now? We need some divas, know whata mean. They aren't that bad. They can have some success like Nivea, Toya, and some others without doing much in the Urban market. You know, a long time ago I was hoping that some of the other UK-pop-R&B would make the top 40 like Five Star who failed to make the top 40 with "I Can't Wait Another Minute" when it stalled at number 41 in the fall of 1986.

Misteeq is a cheap rip off of a mix of Blaque and TLC. GROSS PUKE TLC were great but they're gone now. Blaque have never been half as good as Mis-Teeq. Also... listening to their debut album, I didn't hear TLC or Blaque. I heard a new sound that was UK and totally fresh. Their 2nd album sounded more generic but still better than Blaque and they ripped off TLC's Vic-E (whatever it was called) computer voice but they hardly invented it in the first place.

A heard a couple of their songs and the one sound EXACTLY like "What About Us" and the other sounded EXACTLY like "FanMail (intro)" Please. Mis-teeq is nothing innovative. and joshjoel, last I heard TLC was still reigning supreme (top selling) girl group of all time. If anyone's going to be the next divas, it's going to be Destiny's Child, unfortunately.
If Mis-teeq is so good why has their label hesitant to release their stuff in the states?
