But 'This Love is at +67 and Usher is still in the 200's
I'm kind of torn because I'd like to see This Love get #1, it's too good and I like it too much for it just to stall at #2, but at the same time I dont want it to be #1 for like 3-4 weeks, that's too long.
I'd love to see "Hotel" get Top 10, but with the bottom 5 songs in the Top 10 all bulleted, it doesn't look like that's gonna happen. Unless One Call Away starts to drop, but even so that might take too long and Hotel's bullet isn't that big.
I like 'This Love' and Maroon5, I would rather see it get #1 even if it was only for 1 week, and then drop off
I'd rather 'This Love' be #1 than She Will Be Loved...and I wouldnt want This Love to be #1 for like 5 or 6 weeks, so even if it's #1 for just 1 or 2 weeks, that's good enough...I like it too much for it to just stall and peak at #2
After this Usher/Maroon5 who is going to be the next #1, D-12? or Beyonce?
"Yeah!" will probably be the #1 song of 2004 on all the year-end countdowns on radio stations, BET, MTV, and so on...
It's followed the same pattern that "In Da Club" did, pretty much exactly 1 year later.
If not #1, it will definitely be Top 3.

Maybe it's payola to keep Usher at #1 for a few more weeks to ensure he does even better on the year end charts and just to make sure this song is remembered as THE song of 2004... ???

No, I don't think there's any payola here, lol...Usher doesn't really need any of that. Anyway, I'm really surprised about Maroon5's decreased bullet. A few days ago, "Yeah!" and "This Love" were less than 80 spins apart -- now the gap is over 250 and Usher's bullet is well over twice that of Maroon5's. Usher had better start dropping or else "This Love" will have to settle for a #2 peak.

I know Usher doesn't need it, but if they wanted to ensure his stay at #1 for a few more weeks, and Maroon5 was inching closer, then that may call for a 'need'...lol

Uh oh, Maroon5 is under +100. Not good.
Moreover, I don't think Usher's new single is going to make "Burn" start falling. Reason? One word: Outkast.
Maroon5 might make it to number one, but I doubt seriously that it's going to be four to five weeks as originally predicted. Maybe it'll pull a 3 Doors Down and spend only a single week on top, but stay on the charts long enough to become the top song of the year. Or, as I said twice already, it could possibly pull a VH/Lifehouse.

Damn Usher! I can understand why "Yeah" would make Top 3, but it doesn't deserve to block out Maroon 5!!!
Kiss 108 sure isn't helpipng anything! They had Usher in the 60x range for a long time, but now he's shot up into the 80s-90s. Kiss 108 is losing their individuality...they are sheep following the trend.....I mean, even if Usher was still in 50s-60s, it's not like people would never hear it! They are overdoing it!!!
When have they turned so rhythmic????? Take a look at this (today's mediabase WXKS playlist): 90 68 +22 Usher f/ Ludacris - Yeah 88 48 +40 Mario Winans - I Don't Wanna Know 86 86 0 Maroon 5 - This Love 85 83 +2 Britney Spears - Toxic 61 84 -23 Jessica Simpson - Take My Breath Away 59 28 +31 Beyonce - Naughty Girl 57 84 -27 Jessica Simpson - With You 51 53 -2 Hoobastank - The Reason 50 47 +3 Linkin Park - Numb 47 27 +20 Blink 182 - Miss You 47 49 -2 Hilary Duff - Come Clean 46 29 +17 D12 f/ Eminem - My Band 43 17 +26 Sean Paul - I'm Still In Love With YOu 34 58 -24 Evanescence - My Immortal 30 35 -5 Avril Lavigne - Don't Tell Me 30 32 -2 Outkast - The Way You Move 26 27 -1 Outkast - Hey Ya! 26 3 +23 Usher - Burn 25 11 +14 Black Eyed Peas - Hey Mama 24 16 +8 David Corey - Best Friend in the World 23 18 +5 Kimberley Locke - 8th World Wonder 22 4 +18 J-Kwon - Tipsy 20 18 +2 Cassidy f/ R. Kelly - Hotel 20 13 +7 Cherie - I'm Ready 20 19 +1 Five For Fighting - 100 Years 18 17 +1 Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love? 18 20 -2 Chingy - One Call Away 18 16 +2 Coldplay - Clocks 18 10 +8 Frickin' A - Trend 17 17 0 50 Cent - In Da Club "With You" and "My Immortal" have the Top 2 spots for their Year-to-Date Chart 2004....I hope this station doesn't continue convering to rhythmic.

I'm not real worried about the #1 situation, I'm sure Maroon 5 will get in there it may just take an extra week or two longer than expected. I don't think Usher is going to pull an Outkast here either, I predict he will lose his bullet by next week and begin plummeting at a decent pace. Maroon 5 will have longetivity and there isn't a #1 contender for another 3000 spins down the chart, I doubt Usher will reign for another 3-4 weeks, I'm going to say 2 at the most with Maroon 5 sneaking in 2-4 followed by more than likely D12, which sucks!

I thought WXKS has always been fairly rhythmic. Every time I'm in Boston and I tune in, I always hear a Rhythmic song.
As Exactly96 said, D12 is at 5874 gaining only 1051. They need at least 3 more weeks to get to #1, and will probably slow down a lot by then. I don't see "Yeah!" staying around that long when Burn is at #20.

"Yeah" really needs to go away. I'm really getting sick of "This Love", but almost anything is better than "Yeah". Let "Someday" die already. Does anyone really want to hear the song for the 5,000,000th time?(1,000,000 times that it's been played plus another 4,000,000 for all the times "HYRM" was played). I hope Advil misses the top 15. How the hell is "Hey Mama" still rising? In the predictions thread for that song, I think maybe one person predicted the song to even make the top 40. Hilary Duff needs to fall faster. The song better not make it to recurrent like "So Yesterday" (barely) did. Why is "Here Without You" still 107 spins ahead of "Away From The Sun"? Nice gains for Yellowcard! That Jojo song blows. It's times like these when crash46's statement that 12-year olds shouldn't be played on the radio is right on.

People need to stop comparing other artists to OutKast. OutKast had 2 simultanous singles by different members of the group, whereas Usher is one person having multiple singles. It's a totally different scenario.

But doesn't Usher feature different artists on his two current songs?

Either way, he's the main artist for both songs, whereas "Hey Ya!" only had Andre 3000 and "The Way You Move" only had Big Boi (featuring Sleepy Brown).

Nickelback are really hanging in there. Here's an observation: out of all the unbulleted songs in the Top 40, "Someday" is losing the least amount of spins. As of this Sunday, how many weeks will be song have been in the Top 40? Top 100?

Well, Maroon 5 just lost their bullet. #2 peak for them.
Jessica Simpson's coming up very strong. Sugababes & Christina Milian are heading for top 40.

I thought WXKS has always been fairly rhythmic. Every time I'm in Boston and I tune in, I always hear a Rhythmic song. Unfortunately, they didn't used to be like that. In fact, WXKS was very Hot AC leaning in the early 2000s. Songs like "Taking You Home", "Superman (It's Not Easy)", "It's My Life", "Tonight And The Rest Of My Life", etc. were huge hits on the station. Since that time, though, the station did do some rearrangement in the managerial dept. and it looks like that is what prompted the changes.

Well, Maroon 5 just lost their bullet. #2 peak for them. Now, don't give up on them yet. As I recall, in the past year, there was a song that lost their bullet at #2 on the daily Mediabase update and ended up becoming one of the biggest hits of the year (and yes, it went to number one). As Sunny said, Usher's the main singer on both of his songs, so he won't be as lucky as Outkast and, eventually, "Yeah" will start losing plays, enabling "This Love" to sneak in a few weeks at the top. Even if the song does only peak at #2, it'll be up there for quite some time now, as Toxic and Immortal are free-falling and "My Band" is way, way behind. In a nutshell, regardless of where it peaks, "This Love" will become one of the biggest singles of the year (if not THE biggest).

What song was this? And I agree with you regarding "This Love"...it will definitely be somewhere near the top of the 2004 year end chart. In fact, if the #1 song of the year is already on the chart, I really see no other song that can beat it -- the only other song currently charting that I think even has a chance at the year end #1 is "The Reason". I really don't see a hip hop song like "Yeah!" topping the pop year end chart.

I don't really remember which song, but I'm pretty sure it was either in 2002 or 2003, and I believe it was on the CHR/Pop chart.

Right, especially since it's been longer ago than I care to remember that a hip-hop song topped the CHR/Pop year end chart. In fact, I'm not sure if it's ever happened, especially if you don't call Boyz II Men, who hit #1 in 1992 and again in 1994, a hip hop group (some people do, other people don't). So, as dominant as Rhythmic music is on the Pop charts now, the top song of the year is almost always a Rock song.

They've been in the top 40 since October 3rd, that would make 30 weeks. 31 weeks in the top 50. I'm guessing they entered the top 100 sometime in mid-September. More than likely among the top 5 longest charting songs of the decade so far. Vertical Horizon "Everything You Want" - 37 weeks Lifehouse "Hanging By A Moment" - 36 weeks Matchbox Twenty "Unwell" - 32 weeks And several 31 weeks, The Calling, 3 Doors Down, Train. I think that's all, correct me if I'm wrong. Nickelback could still hang around for a few more weeks, more than likely they will get 32-33 weeks on.

It's looking more and more likely This Love won't be #1 for all those weeks.
I don't think D12 or Tispy could make it to #1- if they do heaven help POP radio.
The Reason may, but it looks like Naughty Girl may grab it.
I'm This Love is regain it's bullet by the weekend, but I don't know about it passing Yeah, giving Yeah 3 weeks at #1.
The First Cut Is The Deepest peaked at #2 on HOT AC and AC and number 11 on POP, only one number below the top 10 or #1- but on AC she still has a chance, at least on AT 40 she reached #10 for 2 weeks.

The Reason may, but it looks like Naughty Girl may grab it. It's possible that we could see a Beyoncé vs a rock song showdown again, with the rock song achieving greater longevity.

I smell something fishy when I was looking at the leaders for Sean Paul's "I'm Still In Love With You".
Los Angeles, New York are the top 2 leaders and Chicago, Philadelphia and Boston are in the Top 11.
