Mediabase charts

Well as you know, Mediabase and R&R have split ways as of August 11th. However, various places are now posting the Mediabase charts. One thing that I notice is that reporting panels can be drastically different between BDS and Mediabase. For example the Hot AC Panel on mediabase for their 08/27 chart was of 103 stations. R&R's BDS panel is only of 75 as of the 08/28 chart. On both charts Gnarl's Barkley is No. 1, however Mediabase shows them as having 2958 plays as opposed to R&R showing them No. 1 with 2475 plays, nearly 500 play difference which at the lower rungs of the chart can make a difference of about 10 positions!
I always thought the old R&R and mediabase had superior airplay data when compared to billboard's airplay charts. Remember, all mediabase does is supply the "raw-data" that enabled R&R to publish it's chart. I came across a site called insideradio which is a mediabase partner after the R&R split. It's real neat, they formed a magazine with official "published mediabase charts". I didn't know this, but I thought mediabase only had the actual rolling charts that update several times a day, like the ones on allacess. But they also publish an official "Top 40" chart for every format on Sunday night. On Monday's, insideradio.com posts the update it as a PDF file. here is the link:

I was surprised to see it looked like an official trade chart like one from Billboard or R&R. It even had a "weeks-on" column. Notice the AC Chart is officially a Top 30 and they show 40 positions, so songs not in the top 30 have a weeks on tally of "0" until they reach the top 30. Interesting. All other charts show that the chart is extended by showing songs coming into the top 40 not as debuts but rather jumping from say number 47 for example, but it isn't until they enter the "official mediabase published chart" portion that they begin their official weeks on chart tally. This makes the raw chart look more official. Recurrent rules are not published however. If you want the constantly updated Top 40 rolling charts, FMQB.com and allacess.com have those. I guess the cool thing about Mediabase is that you can set your custom chart to any length, say you want 20, 40 or 100 positions, it's ok because you can slice and dice, or even add recurrents in the mix. But officially, the insideradio charts are the published charts by mediabase if they were to be put in a magazine for example and are dated with Sunday for airplay ending on Sundays.
I even found links that show the the rolling chart without cutoffs:

So, for those that still want to see what the R&R charts would have looked like if Billboard/BDS hadn't taken over, the mediabase published chart is probably the most official thing to it.
