This is to post all the weird, crazy, cool etc. things you have seen or heared while listening to or watching the charts.
One big thing was the Dixie Chicks. In two weeks their songs went off every format they were on. On AC they dropped from 1 to 9!! Travelin Solider dropped from #1 on the coutnry chart and I'm not sure where they dropped from on the HOT AC and POP charts.
Does any one have the play totals from the week before to the week after?
I think music shouldn't be judged by what the artist says personally.

On the Alternative chart, "Bodies" by Drowning Pool fell out of the top 50 (I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong) from its #10 peak (on the 9/14/01 chart). Of course, that was partially due to the fact that there was no 9/21/01 chart.

I think it dropped to #41, because I remember that being mentioned on R&R. Eventually, stations re-added it, even though I think it also eventually went recurrent.

I just find it odd that some chr/pop stations play some songs like 85 times a week and other s don't even have it on their playlist at all. Like Avril Lavigne, perfect example. It's totally hit or miss with that one. Not listed at all on our station's playlist, but played 45-50 times a week on the rival station across town. The rival station played Clay Aiken's song about 40 times a week, ours never even played it. Their station played OTown over and over while they were hot. Our station never even played one song by them! Their station plays a lot of rock stuff, like Fuel, Staind, Our Lady Peace, etc. Ours plays some rock stuff, Nickelback, Switchfoot, 3 Doors Down, and a few others, but not those groups. Their station plays a lot of Shaggy. Our station didn't.
It's totally hit or miss, I don't understand what the rhyme or reason is.

These are from quite awhile back.
"Eat It" by Weird Al had a weird R&R chart run: 39-25-19-20-26-off. Of course, since that was a novelty hit, that's understandable.
Cyndi Lauper's fifth hit from She's So Unusual, "Money Changes Everything" had a very psycho chart run: 30-21-20-20-off. It's like, what, people got sick of it that fast?
Around that same time, "Operator" by Midnight Star had such a chart run: 40-25-18-16-16-19-off I guess people quickly got annoyed by the robotic voice at the beginning of each verse.
In March, 1985, Eric Carmen's comeback hit didn't prove to be a success: 40-37-34-30-off I remember listening to "Countdown America" the week it dropped off, thinking, "Wow, this song really took off this week!", since they were already up to the Top 20 and I hadn't heard it yet. John Leader did not read off the droppers like Casey Kasem did back in those days and I hadn't really analyzed the past week's chart to see what songs would drop off and what would stick around and when they got up to the Top 20 I was like, "Wow!" However, as he got further and further in the Top 20 and I hadn't heard it yet, I took a look at the chart and realized that the song had suddenly dropped from the survey.
In 1994, during the first few weeks of PPW, they didn't really have the chart fine-tuned and there were so many odd chart runs, we won't even get into those.

Bringing this thread out of retirement for the latest in bizarre top 40 runs:
Skye Sweetnam -- "Tangled Up In Me":
35-35-35-37-37-37-34-off

Probably the most bizarre one I saw was Three Days Grace's 'Just Like You' that the same week it finally reached #1 on ALTERNATIVE, it went recurrent so Linkin Park remained #1 despite losing a lot of spins. But I think a week or two later they took it out off recurrent, and it was still #1.

I thought Mediabase only had it listed as recurrent for a couple of days... so the mistake never actually showed up on the "official" charts. Still, it was bizarre. :)

Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" hit only even-numbered positions for 14 straight weeks.
45-42-32-26-24-20-16-18-16-16-20-28-30-32-34-37-40-43-47-49-recurrent
The odds of that happening are 1 in 16,384.

Cyndi Lauper's fifth hit from She's So Unusual, "Money Changes Everything" had a very psycho chart run: 30-21-20-20-off. It's like, what, people got sick of it that fast? Looking through the archives at chartboy's site, I found something startingly similar: REO Speedwagon's third single from Hi Infidelity, "Don't Let Him Go", peaked at #20 and spent its last two weeks on the chart at peak position. I don't know its exact chart run, but otherwise the only difference between this and "Money Changes Everything" is that this spent 5 weeks on the chart compared to Cyndi's 4.

Well it's not so much radio on this but,
Christina Aguilera, Mya, Lil' Kim & Pink's "Lady Marmalade" went to #2 on TRL, then the next day #9, then completely off the countdown, never to be seen again. Very strange.
Also notably 3LW's "I Do" was #1 on TRL, they kicked the one girl out for what she said as "Being too black", then it fell off. Same for Mariah's "Loverboy" with Ludacris, it was in the top 5, then just fell off after she had her, well, let's say "incident".
I can see the reasons for 3LW and Mariah, but not the Moulin Rouge 4some, I mean I guess 4 of the biggest TRL female singer's fans just gave up for reasons unknown.

That thing with LM happened with T.a.T.u as well. It was at #2, fell to #8 then never came back. It happened with Complicated too, that video debuted at #8 jumped to #3, fell to #6 then fell off and came back on again at #10 the next day.

I've found another one...gee, what kind of system was R&R using in the 80s? Tom Petty's "Change of Heart". Its chart activity was identical to "Don't Let Him Go", except its peak was #18. But this gets worse. He had another song suffer a similar fate! Said song was "Jammin' Me", which peaked at #23 and lasted only 6 weeks on the chart.

That was back in 1987, when the charts moved like lightning at times. Several songs fell off the chart from high positions the week "Jammin' Me" dropped out. "With Or Without You" by U2, a big number one song, still getting considerable airplay, fell out of the chart from way up at #21. And "The Lady In Red", which had been dropping rather slowly, for the R&R chart, anyway, was pulled from the chart from #22. The week after, "Wanted Dead Or Alive" by Bon Jovi also fell from #22. Question is, how did "Meet Me Halfway" by Kenny Loggins, at #26 that week, remain on the chart?

Actually, I just thought of a good one... it's not pop but on Alt this year, "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (by Green Day) climbed up the charts into the top 10 at around +100 to +120 (equal to about +480 to +520). Green Day's lead single "American Idiot", started losing spins from its #1 spot, and BOBD, then at #8, gathered a +307 bullet (equal to about +1500) and rode it to the top 3! (They are now #1, and with an Alt chart where 8 of the top 10 songs are losing spins, they may be there awhile)
