This song is bizarre as it is, but is their any chance this song could peak in the 30's? It has a good summertime vibe, bizarre video, and is doing well on Alternative. Honestly I think this could make it to new and active without even going for adds. But if this went out I think people would really call about this wondering what this is.
At best shot: Weeks In The Top 50: 9 Predicted Peak: #37

I doubt it.
As much as I'd love to see rock bands that emerged from underground like them and "Maps" from Yeah Yeah Yeah's dominate CHR/Pop radio, this will likely go unnoticed though destined to hit huge on Alternative.
My Prediction: Will Not Chart
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Are we talking about "Float On"? Because that's the only song of theirs that could be considered "doing well" on alternative.
Anyway, I can barely tolerate this song. I think it's very overrated. It's like because they're indie, they're automatically brilliant. But that's not true. I think the singer's voice is a little grating. But the instrumentation is decent enough so that I don't change the station every time it comes on.
All that being said, I wouldn't be surprised if this joins Jet and The Darkness and becomes another annoying crossover hit, even though it's about 50 times better than both of those songs. But this is all assuming it's even going to be released. But if it is, I predict it will peak at #13.

I'd be baffled if Float On went top 40 on CHR, especially since as long as Modest Mouse have been around and as respected as they are, they're just now getting their first successful single on alternative.
But stranger things have happened.
I also wouldn't have minded seeing Phantom Planet's Big Brat crack the top 40 of CHR.

I'd like to see it do well on pop. It has a Talking Heads vibe about it.
They aren't Indie anyway, they are on Epic.
Just so you know.

This is a great song that just debuted on my chart last week. With the current uncertain landscape of pop radio, I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see this hit. So many seemingly random songs have popped up lately, my two favorites being the Darkness and Jet.
I'll be ballsy and say #29 for this one.

This is now on All Access's "Cool New Music", what does that indicate?

This is now on All Access's "Cool New Music", what does that indicate? It indicates that the record company gave AllAccess some moneyto advertise it... meaning that it's probably going for Pop adds at some point.

where do you think this will end up? I'd think I'd like to change my prediction a bit. Considering their album is selling incredibly well and consistent, and "Float On" can still go #1 on Alternative (I knew it would be a hit there) I think "Float On" can chart the Top 40. However, I'm still skeptical about this being a mega-hit on CHR/Pop. It is radio-friendly enough, but it sounds a bit too advanced and grotesque for the format. So I will raise the bar on this, up EXACTLY at #30, and have a run similar to Audioslave's "Like A Stone" or something (I'm still shocked that made it that far) My Prediction: #30Sincerely, Noah Eaton

This song is the worst alternative song out right now, it's about as annoying as a song can get. I don't think this will make top 50, but it may come very close.

I kind of like this song. It's not my favorite, but it's different. #30 sounds about right I think.

This song is the worst alternative song out right now, it's about as annoying as a song can get. I don't think this will make top 50, but it may come very close. I like it a lot. It's perhaps the most simplistic Modest Mouse song to date ("Dance Hall" is also simplistic though catchy) but melodic and uplifting. The opening lyric kind of gives me a giggle too (I backed my car into a cop car the other day") However, most of the tracks are superior to "Float On" on the album. The second single is much better written, "Bukowski" and "One Chance" also are lyrically powerful, and "The Devil's Workday" reminds me of They Might be Giants! LOL! Sincerely, Noah Eaton

This song is in the mid 40's right now. There is a lot of clutter in the Top 40 right now. Do we think this song will hit the top 40 or will it miss the mark?
