I definitely agree that every artist should be able to shine in their own way and I rarely begrudge someone success, however Milian seems like she has no originality. Even from her music before... Whoever said she needs to find her own identity, I agree. I think this will be a hit, but not really break her as an artist (if that makes sense) Dip It Low may actually end up being a hit but if she expects to last she needs to find herself and stop stealing Beyonce's identity.

I saw the video this morning, and at first I thought it was some sort of remix video of "Nasty Girl," until the bottom credit blurb came on. The song is awful dull, I hardly even remember it now. The video is the best thing about it, and even that's a rip-off of Beyonce.

A friend at school: "Did you see Christina Milian's new video? She looks like Beyonce in it!"
We argued about whether or not it was a good video. I said it was, and that my favorite part was the black ink routine. He thought it was a bad video.
Then I asked, "Have you seen the video for that song called 'Dip It Low'?"
"That's Christina Milian's video, right?"

She doesn't look or sound like Beyonce, what are you people talking about?
That's like when people claim that all of my female Asian friends look like Lucy Liu or tell me that I look like Craig David/Lenny Kravitz just because I'm half black/white. I could be black out wasted in a dark bar and I would never mistake one for the other...unless any light skinned black woman with straightened hair really does look the same?
Also I could never see Beyonce dancing like that (mainly because her body is much thicker, so her style has to be different).

I do think Christina Milian's hair color is pretty similar to Beyonce's like AllOverThePlace mentioned. Maybe that's what I meant about the similarity to Beyonce. But she sounds totally different and of course they are from different ethnic backgrounds with Beyonce being African American and Christina Milian being Hispanic.

She just has the same hairstyle as Beyonce and similar Beyonce styled wardrobe in the video. I don't think anyone was basing it on "just cuz she's got tan skin and straight hair". And no one mentioned that she sounded like Beyonce either. Trust me, I'm latin american, I would never say something like that based on the skin tone of someone.

Overreaction. Face it she reminds alot of people of Beyonce` regardless of the reasons behind it she does. Because people are desperate to just group everyone together. Sorry but she doesn't look, sound or move like Beyonce, so what is it exactly that's making people think she's anything like Beyonce?
Either way I think both chicks are ridiculously cool, I just don't understand why everyone has to classify artists into groups, just because it's easier to think that way.

I dont see how anyone could say they ARENT alike... the song reminded me of a Beyonce song, her clothing, hair, and movements remind me of Beyonce. Thats not prejudice or desperate to classify-its just the truth. If you think an artist is dressing, acting, and making music just like another artist, what is wrong with saying so!?

I have to agree with Poetry on this one. She is way too Beyonce-like in the "Dip It Low" video. Seems more like a rip-off than a tribute.
And to make it official, my mother asked me if I had seen the new Beyonce video with her rolling around in liquid latex. It didn't take me long to figure out who she was talking about, LOL.

But I really feel that Christina Milian is being judging solely on this one song and video. Gosh, some people need to at least give her a chance. This goes to show you how critical people can be.
Christina Milian had other songs way before "Dip It Low," which was "AM to PM," and "Between Me and You" with Ja Rule. This is the first that I am hearing her being likened to Beyonce. So I really feel need that folks need to get over it and stop nitpicking her whole career by just one song. I haven't even seen her perform live yet, to really determine that she is a copycat Beyonce. It is common for folks to dwell on the negatives and not concentrate on the positives.

I remember people were comparing Ashanti to Christina. Now people are saying Christina is copying Beyonce. I guess it's better to be compared to Beyonce than Ashanti.

Well on this board is the first that I'm hearing of a past Ashanti and Christina comparison. I never read it in a published article or anything like I'm hearing now of the Beyonce and Christina comparisons.

Oddly enough, the video for 'Dip it Low' is being used in an NBA Playoffs commercial on Sportsnet. They play scenes from the video, and then cut to shots of NBA playoff action, with the song playing in the background.
It's my first time seeing this video (or part of it) on TV
The song is hot, I wasn't crazy about it at first but it's a grower. The hook is very catchy and that Asian influenced beat is something different, yet killer at the same time.

To be honest, I don't think Christina is copying Beyonce. I just saw a striking resemblance in her CD cover. I didn't think of Beyonce when I saw the "Dip It Low" video until I read the comparisons on these boards. They don't sound alike at all and they rarely look alike.
I remember people comparing Ashanti and Christina vocally, but that's it. But as someone had said back then, "They both sound smooth as butta."

Her album is amazing for a pop album. I wonder what the next single is going to be. I really like "Dip It Low" and it's not one of the better songs on the album. She has great ballads and a bunch of fun upbeat club jams.
I'm loving the reworked version of "L.O.V.E."

Yes, I'm very curious too about the next single. Since she recorded some more new material for the US release, I'm wondering if it'll be something we haven't heard yet!
But for now, I'm anxious for them to just set the final tracklisting, lol. It's officially 1 month until her album release.

To be honest, Christina Milian is a much more attractive girl than Beyonce(imo). She has such a pretty and flawless face (dang, I wish I looked like her ) Beyonce used to look more attractive in her early Destiny's Child days. Now I just don't see her as pretty

I like her I just think she should be more focused on replacing Janet than trying to be beyonce.

This song rebounded nicely on billboard going from 70 to 61 after fallin from 64 to 70 the week prior.
I have not heard any tracks from her album but I am really excited about them. "dip it low" is a GREAT song and I hope it explodes sooner or later........music needs a new HOT female act and I think it could be her because Beyonce is sooooo last summer.

I'm sorry her songs are really high on the cheese factor and on top of being cheesy they just aren't any good. I can see why they were so insistent on Dip It Low being a hit....there aren't any other hits on her album.

Well, to be fair, none of us have heard her ENTIRE album. Remember there are 4 new tracks on the US release that weren't on the Japan release ;) I think the CD is quite good. It's not the best thing to ever be released, but honestly, who's CD is? lol To each his/her own opinion. I'm happy with what's she done with this CD and can't wait to hear more (like the songs she's doing for her movie with John Travolta and Uma Thurman )

I hated this song at first, but the "Pop, pop, pop that thang" part is pretty damn catchy.

This is definitely going to be Ms. Milian's summer. I hope she follows up with "Peanut Butter and Jelly"
