Citadel's WMPW 98.9 (licensed to Munford and serving the Memphis market) changed from Smooth Jazz to CHR-Rhythmic on October 15, 2004 according to 100000watts. Now the CHR-Rhythmic format has lasted less than two years. WMPW is tied for 14th in the Memphis ratings behind CHR-Pop WHBQ, CHR-Rhythmic KXHT, and Urban WHRK. All Access Net News says:
Format Flip In Memphis
At 2PM today, the sounds of CHINGY "Pullin' Me Back" gave way to MADONNA "Like A Prayer," as CITADEL WMPW (Power 99)/MEMPHIS pulled the plug on its Rhythm format and presented MEMPHIS' newest radio resident, "KIM," a "Jack"-styled Variety format geared toward females. The station is promoting a $10,000 cash giveaway after 10,000 songs.
Country Sister WGKX (KICKS 106) PD LANCE TIDWELL adds PD duties at "KIM 98.9," and afternoon host WENDY WILLIAMS exits. No further changes have been announced.

On the Memphis board at radio-info.com, I asked if they could go Jack. I wasn't too far off.
