This song was done by someone else as well (Celine Dion??), but it wasn't as good as Avalon's version. This is pretty much a song for all seasons. The message is to give your love (that people give to everyone around the holidays) to people everyday instead of just at Christmas. The song and message is so beautiful that the song never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

They also covered Mariah's "Jesus Born On This Day".

Just bumping this back to the top, seeing that it's Christmas Day and all.

Message is good. The song isn't anything special.

Well the song was actually written by her. Course, that's not to say someone else can't do it better. I never heard her sing it or Avalon either for that matter. But it was on the AI Christmas special last year, sung by Clay. It was the first time I had ever head it and I had to listen to it a couple of times to really get the full sense of what it was saying and how it flowed. It did become one of my favorites in a long time though. Usually I only like traditional Christmas songs, but I eventually fell for this one.
Is there a place I can maybe hear a partial of it sung by Avalon without paying for the whole download?
Also, it is included on Clay's new Christmas CD this year. It blew me away. He sings it different than on the show last year. The guy who produced it on the CD is amazing. Plus I also heard it would be included on the AI special this year that Kelly, Ruben and Fantasia are on. I don't remember which one of them is supposed to sing it though. It doesn't really strike me as a good fit for any of them. But maybe AI is just trying to save money since they apparently paid for rights last year to use it. Gee, wouldn't be the first time they skimp on songs and reuse them over and over again, even on idol CDs. Sorry, not a big fan of AI. Like the kids, just don't like the politics of the show.

Thanks for the link. I have always heard OF Avalon without having heard them. I listened to all the samples on that CD and really liked it. I never was familiar with their music until this summer when I heard a download of Clay singing one of their songs on his tour. That song was amazing--You Were There. It was so powerful and perfect for someone who has a lot of feeling. Actually, I think I'll go look for that one by Avalon and see if I like it. I also knew that Clay had met them this past year. They were back stage at one of his shows. They seemed to really connect when they met from reports I heard. While I was at Amazon I also listened to the clip of Celine (since she wrote the song). I love Celine and think she is one of the best female singers around. But she has lost this song to Clay. I think anyone who knows him, will really think of him now when they hear this song after the show last year and it being on the CD this year. I know his fans begged for it to be included--and then he stepped it up a notch to the WOW factor. Oh well, sorry this is Avalon. I do like what I heard of their version of it. I may have to check some of their stuff out of the library to see what I like well enough to either get from downloards or to just buy the CD. I never used to do Christian music per se, but I'm liking it better all the time now.
