Keith Olberman's Countdown show on MSNBC tonight will be counting down the all-time worst holiday songs. The list is shown in the form of a poll in which you can vote to help determine the rankings. Olberman's show runs at 8pm Eastern, 7 Central. This might be fun.

I'm suprised that a rather obscure song I heard the other night didn't make the list--"Dominic the Christmas Donkey" I believe was the title of it.

LOL, I thought this was going to be about the most poorly compiled Christmas countdown (i.e. the AT10 Christmas special that they were running over and over during the last few Christmases)

I like "Dominic The Donkey" And I also like "Grandma Got Run Over...", the Singing Dogs "Jingle Bells", and Cartman's version of "O Holy Night". Guess that says a lot about me doesn't it..

I'm offended "I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas" was not included. That song is pure evil and deserves recognition as such!

"I Farted On Santa's Lap (Now Christmas Is Gonna Stink For Me)" has to be one of the worst songs ever conceived (Christmas or otherwise), so why it's not on the poll is baffling.

The name "Barbra Streisand" was enough to get me to vote for her version of "Jingle Bells".

Cartman is a classic. I really used to like "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" when I was a kid. Kind of grew out of it though. I think the worst song I have ever heard was the "Christmas Macarena". Edit: Oops, forgot to say that it was the worst Christmas song ever. Actually, on second thought, I'm going to leave it as is.

I'm scared to ask...but what exactly is the Christmas Macarena? Is it the same song with jingle bells in the background?

I actually made a worst Christmas songs list. Should I post it somewhere here?

Grandma Got Run Over would definitely be on my worst list. So would Paul McCartney's Wonderful Chrstmastime (too much dinging and donging for my taste). Then there's Feliz Navidad; no matter who sings it I never like it. I think Air Supply once did something for Christmas too, so no matter what it was it's place should be reserved.
I don't know if it's a single or not, but I can remember many years ago hearing Merle Haggard sing The Christmas Song on 'Hee-Haw' (you know, "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..."). If he ever released that it deserves a ranking.
Jingle Bells by the Barking Dogs is, I think, top 5 material. So is Joan Jett's grueling Little Drummer Boy.
I can think of one song I used to hate but now like: The Ronettes Sleigh Ride. I couldn't stand it when I was a kid, perhaps because it was overplayed for decades. It's a late 50s tune that now sounds like a precursor to some of the Supreme's better Christmas output.

Willa Ford's Christmas song, "Santa Baby (Gimme Gimme Gimme)", was pretty damn bad. I'm glad it seems like she's dropped off the face of the earth music-wise.
