I've stopped listening to chr/pop radio for the most part, because of excessive repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat repeat after repeat after repeat , u get my point. I've turned more towards classic rock station w/ a little new stuff (highest new song gets about 8-12x/week!) Much better. Bigger variety, less derogetory lyrics etc!

There is NO reason for CHR/Pop stations and CHR/Rhythmic stations to have so much overlap in thei playlists; if you look at the top 50- songs of 22006 at both formats at either BB or Mediabase, there are FAR too many songs on both surveys.
Obviously, the CHR/Pop format isn't the powerhouse of a format that it was in the seventies and eighties, especially once the adults and 'soccer moms' started bailing from the format in the late eighties when KIIS and other CHR/Pop stations started playing the same rap music that the local CHR/Rhythmic statiion was after that station swiped a HUGE chunk of their teen listeners.
KPWR did that to KIIS in 1987, and the same thing has been happening in market after market ever since.
It's no secret that the narrower your target audience, the smaller your chances for success and growth, and NO fiormat has been harmed more over the past 20 years than CHR/Pop, although the beancounters at CC & Infinity have have certainly harmed SEVERAL more formats since then.

Only a fool uses 12+ numbers for anything other than gloating. I can pick out probably 9 of those 15 radio stations that are #1 in the target CHR demo (F18-34) in their market, starting with KSLZ. It seems like you learned well from your pre-programmed bean counters at crap channel.

Spot on as usual, Marv.
