One of my all time Christmas favorites.
Such a good rendition. Better than Amy Grant's, IMO.

Kelly surprisingly has the best version. I wouldn't have expected much from an American Idol cash-in compilation but Kelly really fills this up with emotion.

I like Kelly's version but I think Natalie Cole's version reigns at the top at least for me....

Well unfortunately this singer doesn't have a recording of it out, but she should. Someone really needs to sign her to a contract--she is awesome and just blew this song out. Her name is Quiana Parlor, from Charleston, South Carolina.

I love it. It manages to be spiritual without being overtly religious, and Kelly's vocal performance is amazing. It'll be interesting to see how it does on iTunes and radio this holiday season with the year Kelly has had.

Love this. It just bugs that they put the Kelly songs on some wierd clear see-through CD so I have to keep switching.
Granted, it's very different from her current sound, but I bet it still does well. Wasn't 19 trying to get her to record a full Christmas album? The two tracks were all that came of it, but I wouldn't be shocked if they wanted her to do it. I'd love to hear her do a whole Xmas CD someday....maybe in a couple years or something.

Love this. It just bugs that they put the Kelly songs on some wierd clear see-through CD so I have to keep switching. Yeah, the clear CD thing is a pain in the ass. I remember people on the Kelly boards flipping out because it wouldn't play in their car CD players. Gotta love the 19 cheapness. From what I remember, Kelly was working towards recording a full Christmas album but 19 decided to just slap My Grown Up Christmas List and O Holy Night on to the Idol Christmas compilation at the last minute (hence the separate plastic disc and Kelly's picture not being on the album cover). I'd like for Kelly to release a Christmas CD eventually, maybe after her 3rd album (if she puts something out between Breakaway and her 3rd album, I'd prefer a live CD/DVD).

One of my favorite Christmas songs. I wonder why it's not showing up on the AC chart though. I checked out the other Christmas songs on that chart and all of them have fewer spins than this one. MGUCL having almost double the highest one which is Lionel Richie's O Come all Ye Faithful. A lot of the songs listed on the chart are older songs, so I don't think that would be the reason. If anyone has an explanation I'd appreciate it.

I absolutely love this version of the song- the most soulful and emotional of the bunch, not to mention vocally superior, IMO. The tone of her voice in the verses where she moves from chest to head voice at the end of each line is just brilliant and adds a "story" effect to her voice to my ears.

I think Monica covered this one too. I like Kelly's version, but I heard Natalie Cole's first and that's the one that still gives me chills.

Clarkson's version is nice, but Jane Monheit's is hard to top: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAWhfBrJ4iA . Natalie Cole does give her a run for her money, though. Have to say, though, that this is one of the seasonal songs I can only take in moderation. Not amongst my favourites.

I like this recording (though I think it's far from her strongest), but I wish Kelly would do a few more--this isn't my favorite Christmas song in general.

I wish she'd do a Christmas album. I know RCA wouldn't count it as one of the 2 albums left on her contract, but I think she'd make RCA a ton of money if she released one.
