Congrats to rising teen pop star Whitney Wolanin, whose cover of "Frosty the Snowman" is New & Active on the R&R Christmas chart at AC radio. The song also scored a major coup when Doug Stephan's "Good Day" talk show, which is aired on 325 stations around the nation, played the song on Tuesday, Dec. 5. It is also being played in more than 1,300 AMC, Regal and Cinemark movie theaters and in 200 AMC and Loews theater lobbies in December. Now that's cross-promotional savvy! The track comes from the full-length "Christmasology" on indie TopNotch, a collection of 15 sacred and secular seasonal classics, including "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
Wolanin maintains a straight-A average in school, where she is in the International Baccalaureate Program. Each year, her family puts on a Rockin' Christmas Party for charity, featuring a band comprising members of famous rock groups, to support the local children's hospitals and to fund a permanent scholarship endowment for needy students.
