Low-rated Oldies WKQL has changed formats. From All Access Net News: Oldies Out, MOViN In For Jacksonville As reported on ALL ACCESS earlier this morning, RENDA Oldies WKQL (COOL 100.7)/JACKSONVILLE has ditched the format. At 1p the station became WMUV (MOViN 100.7 FM), picking up the ALAN BURNS AND ASSOCIATES format that is sweeping the country. "We are very excited about this new direction for 100.7 FM," said GM GARY SPURGEON. "The new MOViN 100.7 FM, will bring a fresh and fun sound to the radio in Jacksonville. When the music makes you feel good, you feel good,. That’s the basics behind the new MOViN 100.7." The new website, with streaming audio is www.movin1007fm.com. Among the newly unemployed is afternoon drive jock TOM MURPHY, a market veteran of such stations as WAPE and the old WKQL (COOL 96.9), as well as BOSTON stations WRKO, WVBF and WEEI. He is immediately available in the market. Reach out to TOM at (904)268-5085 or (904)208-1903. His email is tjmurphpro@aol.com.

The MOViN format hopefully will flop there like it's been flopping in L.A. so far, despite the presence of the legendary Rick Dees.

It's just another overhyped and oversold format, hampered by a contradiction in terms ('Rhythmic AC') and a VERY tiny library of gold and recurrent songs which CHR/Pop and CHR/Rhythmic formats have absolutely run into the ground.
The overwhelming majority of rhythmic music of the past several years has been hamstrung by not being very interesting, and tarnished by rampant plagiarism (they call it 'sampling'), and an overreliance on a handful of producers who just aren't that good.

Spot on as usual, my friend.

Movin' is doing pretty well in Seattle, which is the only place it's been on long enough to actually draw a conclusion. The original Movin' is up a full share from the previous format and beating the local CHR, Hot AC, and Alternative stations 12+.
