She is definitely older than 18. She should be....22-25. Oh I thought she was 16 when she released 'Be Not Nobody'

no-she is 24 in two weeks. So she would have been...I guess around 20-21 when BNN was released. I asked to be sure but I knew she was a little older than me.

Wow, this sounds really good….maybe not as commercial as “A Thousand Miles” but equally as brilliant. Musically, there is always so much going on in a Vanessa Carlton song and I love listening to hear all of the different tones and instruments. Does anyone know if Ron Fair produced this cut?

Does anyone know if Ron Fair produced this cut? Stephan Jenkins (Third Eye Blind lead singer and her boyfriend) produced the song. Him and Vanessa co-wrote the song together. Ron Fair is in the credits for doing the orchestration. Lindsey Buckingham is also in the credits for playing acoustic guitar (although it's not that audible, at least to me).

AHHHH I LOVE this song. WOW. Not very radio-friendly but I it makes me excited for the album. Very innovative and her voice sounds so much better.

Well I hope she wrote it by herself. I don't want to have mental images of Stephen Jenkins "rush of blood" during his "first time"

You dont think there is a huge mental difference betweena 15/16 year old and a 24 year old? I feel lightyears away from the person I was when I was 15/16 and Im only 20.... She released BNN when she was 21/22. And I don't think there is a huge mental difference between a 22 year old and a 24 year old. I'm 19, and obviously, I feel a little more mature than the person I was in 2000 but the mental difference is not as huge if you compare between the mentality of a 13 year old and a 16 year old.

What are you talking about? The song is written about being 15/16-why the hell does her age during BNN matter? ??? ???

I thought she wrote it by herself during a blizzard. That's what it says on the liner notes I read in the radio promo CD. I've a feeling that Vanessa wrote all the lyrics to the song and Stephan might have contributed to the music of the song. I'm not thrilled either that he co-wrote the song with her but it turned out great.

Exactly, and if we're going to get technical, when she released BNN isn't relevant. She wrote a lot of those songs before she was even signed. And that was when she was a teenager. But even having said that, why can't she go back a little further and write more about her teenage years? Or is she only allowed to write about those years as she's living them?

I gotta say this is my favorite song right now. I'm so addicted to it! I love the line "we were all in love and we all got hurt".
I recently downloaded her 1st album and I gotta say I don't really like it. I think she was a terrible singer but I love her voice in White Houses.

Finally heard it.... it's alright, but her voice still really gets on my nerves. Maybe it'll grow on me but as of now, I could do without it.

This song is amazing, definitely Vanessa's best single so far.

Now this song gives the meaning to the word cliché. It's definitely not bad. A little on the dry side, however. I could imagine it would be a great song to listen to while apple picking out at the farm or something. Not to mention fall will be here soon, so it seems like perfect timing for her to release this track. Especially if you're into apple picking, lol. Prepare for power rotation of "White Houses" at Hot AC and AC stations.

I personally think the song is the opposite of cliché. The lyrics and everything seem so original.
