KYZZ had very low ratings. KYZZ is the third station that was on the Mediabase Mainstream Top 40 panel to change formats recently. From All Access Net News:
Bye Bye Bye Z-979/Monterey BUCKLEY RADIO Top 40/Mainstream KYZZ (Z-979)/MONTEREY-SALINAS, CA has begun stunting. Z-979's last song was 'NSYNC's "Bye Bye Bye." The station is stunting now with BOB MARLEY's "Jammin'" over and over with a recorded message saying that "something bigger and better is coming to 97.9 today at 5pm." Could rumors of a Movin-esque format be true?

I remember seeing the ratings for that station. I figured it couldn't be around for too long. I guess pop doesn't work in Monterey-Salinas.

KYZZ changed to CHR-Rhythmic, challenging Clear Channel's KDON which is Number 1 in the market.
