Mariah Carey won this title on pop radio in the 90's right? (even though she never had any top tens form 97 and on) Well since we are almost midway through the 2000's, does anyone know who has been the top artist on CHR Pop so far?
I bet it's J.lo!

So far J Lo has had
Waiting For Tonight- #2, but peaked in '99 Feelin' So Good- #24 Love Don't Cost a Thing- #1 [2 weeks] Play- #6 I'm Real- #1 [3 weeks] Ain't it Funny - #1 [2 weeks] I'm Gonna Be Alright- #7 Jenny From the Block- #2 All I Have- #1 [4 weeks] I'm Glad- #13 Baby I Love U!- #26
So 11 top 40 hits, 8 top 10s, 6 top 5s, 4 #1s. A total of 11 weeks at #1.
I'm Real lasted 26 weeks in the top 40 and Ain't it Funny 22. The rest that went recurrent didn't last more than 20.
Beyonce has been big too. Let's see, she's had Say My Name- #3 Jumpin' Jumpin- #1 [3 weeks] Independent Women- #1 [7 charts, but was #1 over the holiday break so really even longer than 7 weeks] Survivor- #2 Bootylicious- #6 Emotion- #8 [all of the above with Destiny's Child] '03 Bonnie & Clyde- #6 [featured] Crazy in Love- #1 [2 weeks] Baby Boy- #1 [4 weeks] Me, Myself, & I- #18 Naughty Girl- #2
11 top 40 hits, 10 top 10s, 7 top 5s, 4 #1s with a total of 16+ weeks at #1.
So, she looks bigger than J Lo.

Also,
Justin Timberlake has been on 12 total top 40 hits [counting "Where is the Love" and Nelly's "Work It" remix] and 11 of them went top 10, and 10 top 5. 4 hit #1, and he spent a total of 27 weeks at the top. Actually I think he's the biggest of all.
Christina Aguilera had 10 top 40 hits, 8 top 10s, 6 top 5s, and 3 #1s with a total of 14 weeks at #1. Very similar to J Lo I'd say.
Pink had 11 top 40 hits, 7 top 10s, 7 top 5s [all but one of which made the top 2], and 2 #1s with a total of 13 weeks at #1. So she was really big too.
Nelly had 10 top 40 hits [including "My Place"], 6 top 10s, 4 top 5s, and 3 #1s with a total of 10 weeks at the top.
3 Doors Down have had 3 gigantic #1 hits that last for ages, but no other top 10s. Avril has had 3 #1s too. Britney Spears, Outkast, Eminem, and No Doubt have had 2.

I don't think you should include Nsync and Destiny's Child as part of Justin and Beyonce's chart life. They are different artists. So i was right with J.lo or is it Christina that has the upper hand? Would points be the best way to figure out this question? If someone could post the chart lives of all of J.lo, Christina and Pink's singles and then we could use inverse points and see who comes out on top, of course that doesn't take into account recurrent airplay.
I know we can officially call Pink the Queen of #2's!
What about Matchbox Twenty?

So i was right with J.lo or is it Christina that has the upper hand? People are tired of Mrs. Anthony so I'm sure Christina will end up #1!

Well, since Justin Timberlake is/was a part of 'N Sync and Beyonce of Destiny's Child, so I'd count their hits with the group still as their hits, since they were part of them. It's more questionable, IMO, to count Justin on "Where is the Love" since he didn't play a really central role in that song, but even not counting that or "Work It" I'd say he's still probably the biggest. If you don't count "Work It" he hasn't missed the top 10 with a single in the 2000s. Matchbox Twenty www2.uta.edu/hunt/charts/m20.htmlDefinitely not as big in the 2000s as the ones I mentioned. All of the stats I cited came from that site, BTW. www2.uta.edu/hunt/charts/chart.html

That's a great site! Thanks
I still don't think that Justin + Nsync's chart run should count together though, or Beyonce + DC. If you count Nsync's hits as a part of Justin's chart life, then that would mean you'd have to count Justin's songs as part of Nsync, which really doesn't seem right. To each his own.
Is there a website that gives you chart runs for songs?

J Lo I'm Gonna Be Alright- #7 Was this one of J-Lo's songs that sampled another? I cannot, for the life of me, remember how this song goes!

That's a great site! Thanks Is there a website that gives you chart runs for songs? There sure is! Just send an e-mail to ulij20@yahoo.com and I'll tell ya the chart run of any song (on the Pop chart, that is; my inventory of A/C charts is missing from October 15, 1976 through December, 1979). There isn't anyone on these boards who happens to have those charts, is there? I've contacted R&R, but they said that the microfiche copies of those are missing and they cannot find them anywhere.

I don't think you can count out 3 Doors Down and Usher.

The remix, which was the radio version, sampled Club Nouveau's "Why You Treat Me So Bad". Oh yeah. No wonder I couldn't rememeber it; suppressed memory!

Thanks, maybe i will. Chorus for "I'm Gonna Be Alright" I used to say i couldn't do it but i did it, after telling everybody that i wasn't with it, it brings tears to my eyes when i say it, but i know inside i'm gonna be alright I went to that webiste that nb gave me and did a sort of weird inverse system for J.lo,Christina, and Pink. Here is what i came out with. Peak of Song: #1=100, #2=99, #3=98 etc. Weeks at Peak: 1 week=1 additional point, 2 weeks=2 additional points, 3 weeks=3 additional points, etc. Weeks on Chart: 20 weeks=20 points, 15 weeks=15 points, etc. Example: Christina Aguilera "Genie In A Bottle" ( A song i didn't use because it peaked in 1999) #1 (4) 27 weeks 100 +4+27=131 points Now here is what i got for J.lo, Pink and Christina's point totals J.lo (not conuting "If You Had My Love" and half of "Waiting for Tonight"): Christina (didn't count "Genie In a Bottle", and 1/4 of "What A Girl Wants") Pink: 1238 points J.lo: 1196 points Christina: 1142 points Now don't take my word on this because many many factors were not included in these "points", like specific chart runs, recurrent airplay, gold airplay, etc. But even then all 3 are still very close. Many people are hesitant to give them with all of these collabos they've done so i decided to do it a second time taking collabos into account Example: J.lo f/ Ja Rule "I'm Real" (counted 75% of the point total for J.lo) ---or--- Christina, Mya, Pink, Lil Kim-"Lady Marmalade" (counted 25% of point total for Christina and 25% for Pink) and i came up with Pink: 1133 points (1/4 for "Lady Marmalade, 3/4 for "Feel Good Time) J.lo: 948 points (2/3 for "Feelin So Good", 3/4 for "I'm Real" "Aint It Funny" "I'm Gonna Be Alright", "Jenny From The Block" "All I Have") Christina: 913 points (1/4 for "Lady Marmalade" and "Nobody Wants To Be Lonely", 3/4 for "Dirrty" "Can't Hold Us Down") So in both cases Pink has a small advantage over Christina and J.lo, however with Pink's recent flops, i'm willing to bet it won't be long before Christina and J.lo take over. Pink is the top artist of the 00's thus far (In my opinion).
