Let's say this song ends up peaking at #4, i'm sure they will eventually let it enter their countdown. They will probably give it a chart run like 25-12-7-4, etc. until it matches it's peak on mediabase.

But what can we do other than email ryan@at40.com which is probably futile anyway? If you do email them, make sure you preface it with "OMG RYAN U R SO KEWL!" since those are the letters that are most likely to be read (at least those are the ones that get posted on the website).

On a lighter note, I did enjoy hearing a piece of Samantha Fox on the show this weekend. :)

This reminds me of the "Into The Night" by Benny Mardones case back in 1989. The song made the Top 20 on AT40, but did not crack the R&R Top 40 even though it supposedly had enough points to do so, but there was a computer glitch or something. That would be cool if "My Happy Ending" debuted on the chart at #14 or higher, shattering the old record set by Jon Secada in 1994 with "If You Go". But it probably won't.

Yeah, it would be kinda cool. Though, as far as AT40 records are concerned, I suppose a song would have to debut at #1 to break that record. Madonna's "Erotica" set the bar in 1992 when it debuted at #2 (and, ironically, never went any higher).

It's possible that AT40 is attempting to go more rhythmic (like KIIS is now), and Lloyd Banks would obviously fit more into such a format than Avril. Whether they go by R&R, Mediabase, or their own (Chr POP/Mainstream Hit) afilliates' playlists, "My Happy Ending" ranks higher. What kind of messed-up chart are they using?!? "Songs that Ryan Seacrest's Hairdresser Likes as of a Month Ago"?
Of course, Seacrest is the host of American Idol, and therefore very familiar with suspicious numbers.

I'm fairly certain that Madonna tied that record when "Frozen" also debuted at #15 (unless I'm thinking of Rick Dees' chart).

I would expect hairdressers to like Avril Lavigne. Well a couple months ago when I made my mom's gay hairdresser a CD he asked for Britney, J-Kwon, Khia, and others. No Avril!

Oh yeah, and since Casey Kasem no longer hosts the show, they probably go strictly by AT40 data and not any of CT40's.

Let's not forget that AT40 is distributed by Premiere Radio Networks, which is owned by Clear Channel, a company that has been allowed to own hundreds of stations and claim a near-monopoly of the radio dial in many areas of the country under the Bush administration's deregulation laws.
Clear Channel manipulates artists all the time. My guess is Avril refused to perform at one of their sponsored station concerts, so they pulled her song from AT40.

I thought of that too, but if that's the case then "Don't Tell Me" should be dropping a lot faster than it is... or maybe they don't want to make it look too obvious that they're hatin' on Avril. >:(

If this was the case, wouldn't they just pull or drastically reduce the spins of MHE from Clear Channel stations? You certainly can't put it past them. But many of AT40's CC affilliates are still giving it decent spins.
Maybe she and her management are negotiating an upcoming tour, and CC is doing this to prove a point and make them go with their concert division.
Or.....did Avril see the card? ;) (You who saw AI2 know what i'm talkin' bout...AVRIL WAS ROBBED! heh.)

Next weekend Hilary & Haylie Duff host, and after that Kelly Clarkson! Well lets hope Kelly's song will still have a bullet when she's hosting. I would hate for her to be like "And here's my new single, dropping 3 spots this week..."

She's an American Idol. She'll probably debut at #19.

Let's not forget the good things we learned this week. Ryan's first concert and that his swimtrunks fell off in public.
Boy, I CAN"T WAIT for this week's show. Double H.D. in the da house.

I heard on a different message board that the Duff sisters are going to host AT40 for two weeks in a row. Is this true, or is it going to be the Duffs this coming week, then Kelly Clarkson the next week?

So far this year, they haven't gotten much better treatment than they did on Dees' chart (R&R).
"Invisible" peaked at #16 on both.
"The Trouble With Love Is" was #23 on Dees and #19 on AT40.
"8th World Wonder" reached #20 on both charts.

It's been "the best of"

Our local CHR Station, 95.1 KHOP in Modesto has recently added AT40 as well (It isn't listed on AT40's website), but it is carried Saturday mornings 6 - 10.

I can verify now that Avril will debut soon... and I'll leave it at that. :)
Just to note (I often seem to have to drive things into may people's heads around here):AT40 does NOT mess around with their chart and choose who to put where. The staff has a good code of ethics worked in on that.
So please stop assuming that Avril is kept off on purpose or that Duff will get preferential treatment for being on the show. AT40 has not, and does not work that way.

OK, we just felt a tad suspicious, since Avril is well inside the R&R Top 20. Usually, by the time a song hits the Top 20 on R&R, it's on AT40.

Well, she didn't make it the week of August 14 either... so she'll be #8 on Mediabase (or #7 on the day the next AT40 airs) when she finally debuts.

I'm sorry, but I just don't believe that a song can have enough airplay to be #12 on the corresponding R&R CHR/Pop chart yet not even enough to be #40 on this one. I'm not saying that they're necessarily keeping it off on purpose either though.
