www2.allaccess.com/sounds/akonlock.ramThe song is going for adds at CHR/Pop on September 14. It's a very popular Urban/Rhythmic song here in New York City. Perhaps because it is the jail bird 'anthem' for 2004. LOL. I know the song is kind of ghetto. The video for the song was filmed just two doors from my house. Yay!!! (I know I said that many times before) I really like the song, it's pretty catchy. Akon is a new artist hailing from the African country of Senegal and was reared in New Jersey. Hopefully the song can garner some pop adds. Z100 has just added the track to the station. So that's always a plus! For that reason, I'll scream another, "Yay!!!"

Wow krazymack, that's really cool that they filmed the video so close to your house. The song is pretty catchy and I like it, but I really don't see it catching on at pop radio. I don't really think it will chart, it might be too ghetto for CHR if there is such a thing nowadays.

Love this song, I have for a while now.
I heard it for the first time on CHR/Pop last night while driving around, I had it on WKSE and they said "New Music, you hear it first!" and "Locked Up" came on. It was the version without Styles, though...I like the one with Styles better, even though it's just 2 short raps, it breaks up the song and makes it less boring, plus Styles has a great flow.
But yea, this song has been playing on Urban/Rhy for months now, and WKSE lied because the Urban station in Buffalo, WBLK has been playing Locked Up all summer, in high rotation! The one with Styles, too!

Locked Up is a great song. I like it a lot and hope it can become a big pop hit. It will probably stall in the 20's though.
My prediction: #21

I'm so glad that Akon has made the top 50, now I am hoping for the top 40. His bullet gains are back up to +211. So I am hoping that he makes it. If he does, "Locked Up" will definitely be my favorite rhythmic song on the pop chart, hands down. I think he will make it. Here is a funny note. I can get in touch with Akon if I wanted to. My friend whose mother owns the laundromat that he filmed his video in has his number. So I can give him a ring and congratulate him on his multiformat smash, "Locked Up." :)

Wow, Top 20 would be great but unfortunately I don't really see it
In any event, Akon is a clear one-hit wonder

The bullet has went up for "Locked Up" at pop radio. It seems like both Trick Daddy and Simple Plan has passed him. I'll be so ecstatic if he makes the top 40.

It debuted at #40. Rick Dees mentioned Akon is from West Africa.
