Vanessa's low bullet isn't just sad, it's a genuine injustice. Skye Sweetnam has a bigger bullet now! She needs to pick up, FAST. I was a genuine fool for thinking that radio would allow a good song from a talented artist that I like do well.

No kidding. Goodness knows they wouldn't give 1000 miles a shot. its kind of sad to me that 90% of the music I like or used to like wouldnt even have a shot at top 40 these days. I think the only huge exception to that is I do like Maroon5...and I was quite pleased with Dido's success (it peaked top 30 at least with some longetivity)

Then again, when has pop radio ever stuck with quality music? rarely. But like I said...I had some hopes that maybe they would give something different, refreshing, and good a chance. Instead...look out for Nelly and Usher to storm the top 10 soon

"Yeah" and "The Reason" on the Pop Radio Top 20 chart
"Yeah" has become the fifth song in history to spend 30+ weeks on the chart. And it appears certain to hang on for another week. Here are the top 5 songs in weeks on:
33 Weeks- Hanging By A Moment- Lifehouse (2001) 32 Weeks- Iris- Goo Goo Dolls (1998) 31 Weeks- Slide- Goo Goo Dolls (1999) 30 Weeks- Run-Around- Blues Traveler (1995) 30 Weeks- Yeah- Usher f/ Ludacris & Lil' Jon (2004)
"Yeah" and "The Reason" are moving up the all-time inverse-points chart. Here's where they currently rank all-time:
1. 485 Points- Iris- Goo Goo Dolls (1998) 2. 469 Points- Hanging By A Moment- Lifehouse (2001) 3. 457 Points- Truly Madly Deeply- Savage Garden (1998) 4. 437 Points- Don't Speak- No Doubt (1996) 5. 430 Points- I Love You Always Forever- Donna Lewis (1996) 6. 410 Points- Smooth- Santana f/ Rob Thomas (1999) 7. 402 Points- Another Night- Real McCoy (1994) 8. 401 Points- Torn- Natalie Imbruglia (1998) 9. 396 Points- Here Without You- 3 Doors Down (2003) 10. 390 Points- You Were Meant For Me- Jewel (1997) 11. 389 Points- How You Remind Me- Nickelback (2001) 12. 388 Points- Slide- Goo Goo Dolls (1999) 13. 384 Points- Yeah- Usher f/ Ludacris & Lil' Jon (2004) 14. 381 Points- Stay (I Missed You)- Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories (1994) 15. 377 Points- Kryptonite- 3 Doors Down (2000) 16. 377 Points- ...Baby One More Time- Britney Spears (1999) 17. 375 Points- Name- Goo Goo Dolls (1995) 18. 371 Points- I Know- Dionne Farris (1995) 19. 371 Points- Don't Turn Around- Ace Of Base (1994) 20. 370 Points- The Reason- Hoobastank (2004)
It's gonna be a close race between these two for # 1 of the year (assuming another song doesn't come along and overtake them both). I'm projecting the final score to be 386-383 in favor of Usher. That would be the closest finish since 1988, which was decided by a single point. But who knows how it will turn out. Stay tuned.

I wasn't expecting BEP's 4th single to become the second-biggest off the album, but good for them. Still baffled that the superior single from the album ("Shut Up") flopped in America and no where else in the world, being as though they are one of the few acts equally big in both America and Europe.

By the way, in your "number of weeks on" list, shouldn't the values be higher? Maybe I'm thinking of the Top 50, but wasn't "Hanging By A Moment" on the chart for 36 weeks? And where is "Everything You Want" in your rankings?

And where is "Everything You Want" in your rankings? The weeks on in my post was for weeks in the Top 20 only. As for "Everything You Want", it spent 28 weeks in the Top 20. It racked up 335 inverse points, good enough for # 3 of 2000, behind "Kryptonite" and "Bent". On the all-time chart, it ranks as # 40 (which is lower than people probably expected). Songs with 27+ weeks in the Top 20 (30+ were in my post above): 29 Weeks- Semi-Charmed Life- Third Eye Blind (1997) 29 Weeks- Truly Madly Deeply- Savage Garden (1998) 29 Weeks- Smooth- Santana f/ Rob Thomas (1999) 28 Weeks- Don't Let Go (Love)- En Vogue (1996) 28 Weeks- Everything You Want- Vertical Horizon (2000)28 Weeks- Kryptonite- 3 Doors Down (2000) 27 Weeks- Another Night- Real McCoy (1994) 27 Weeks- Name- Goo Goo Dolls (1995) 27 Weeks- Don't Speak- No Doubt (1996) 27 Weeks- You Were Meant For Me- Jewel (1997) 27 Weeks- Torn- Natalie Imbruglia (1998) 27 Weeks- ...Baby One More Time- Britney Spears (1999) 27 Weeks- Here Without You- 3 Doors Down (2003) Here are # 21-40 all-time (the Top 20 was in my post above): 21. 367 Points- 3 A.M.- Matchbox 20 (1998) 22. 366 Points- Where Is The Love?- Black Eyed Peas (2003) 23. 365 Points- The Sign- Ace Of Base (1994) 24. 357 Points- Semi-Charmed Life- Third Eye Blind (1997) 25. 356 Points- All My Life- K-Ci & JoJo (1998) 26. 355 Points- Lovefool- Cardigans (1997) 27. 353 Points- All Star- Smash Mouth (1999) 28. 353 Points- Give Me One Reason- Tracy Chapman (1996) 29. 351 Points- Kiss From A Rose- Seal (1995) 30. 346 Points- You Learn- Alanis Morissette (1996) 31. 345 Points- Missing- Everything But The Girl (1996) 32. 343 Points- I Don't Want To Miss A Thing- Aerosmith (1998) 33. 343 Points- Fly- Sugar Ray (1997) 34. 342 Points- Complicated- Avril Lavigne (2002) 35. 342 Points- Nobody Knows- Tony Rich Project (1996) 36. 341 Points- Every Morning- Sugar Ray (1999) 37. 341 Points- This Love- Maroon 5 (2004) 38. 340 Points- Don't Let Go (Love)- En Vogue (1996) 39. 338 Points- Bent- Matchbox Twenty (2000) 40. 335 Points- Everything You Want- Vertical Horizon (2000)

America's charting of Blackeyed Peas is confusing. I'm glad "Let's Get It Started" is doing well, it deserves it. Now what will be the next #1? Maroon 5 could lose its bullet pretty soon.

Maroon 5 could lose its bullet pretty soon. In fact, Maroon5 has lost some spins from yesterday. I bet no one saw this coming! Oh well, I guess it means another No. 1 from the Canadian at #3. Can't say I'm irritated.

Shocked: Nelly has lost his bullet! Ha ha ha. Now that song can go away. "Yeah" 's bullet is gone again, too. *sigh* Kelly looks like she's hitting a wall just below 3000 spins. This can't happen! :( Toby Lightman's down to +4. Match "Devils and Angels" she won't. Pitbull's down to +1 and is out of the Top 50. So is Mis-teeq...I wonder if Mediabase will give them the not-removing treatment?

Latest update, Mis-Teeq is now 1 spin ahead of Good Charlotte for the #50 spot. Knowing Mediabase, I give them a 50/50 shot of being moved to recurrent this week (assuming no changes by tonight).

Toby Lightman's down to +4. Match "Devils and Angels" she won't. All songs are losing spins relative to before the weekend because of Labor Day specials & hurricane coverage. I expect Toby Lightman to pick up her bullet next weekend, & with three recurrents next week & two the following week, she still has a shot at the top 40. --DanG

Next week is harder to predict because of Labor Day weekend, but if the current trends continue, three songs (Usher, Switchfoot, and Los Lonely Boys) will go recurrent and there will be four top-40 debuts: Nelly & Christina Aguilera, Skye Sweetnam, Vanessa Carlton, and The Killers.
