There will be only 10 commericals per hour plus stations will get an option to play Extra songs Every hour
There were 12 commericals Now and starting dec. 27th 2004 Cut down to 10 Minutes per hour

I wonder if this change is related to Clear Channel's recent announcement that their stations will be reducing their spotloads...

Actually, there's no show on December 27, seeing as that's a Monday.
Maybe they'll be starting the making of the January 2 show, but you'd think that would be a year-end show as well.
Or maybe they'll do the show as a one-part eight hour marathon like they used to do starting back in 1983. That would be cool, since two-part shows sort of leave you hanging. Of course, eight hours takes a big bite out of the day, too (unless you have the CD-R copy and you can listen to it at your leisure).

Always thought they were cool. Would Premiere go for an eight hour show these days? Guess we'll have to see what they decide as the end of the year approaches.

I wonder if this change is related to Clear Channel's recent announcement that their stations will be reducing their spotloads... Not too fast, there is one station that is running 7-8 mintues of ads before the current Top 2 segment or at least 1-2 minutes of extra commercials than allotted. Do you really think the changes will make stations play "extras" or extra commercials? From a business viewpoint, I would want more ads run. The sales staff isn't going to stop selling. From a listener viewpoint, well does that really matter.

Regarding the changes, nothing is official yet about them. With the commercial breaks they may be playing more extras. But remember, this is not official at all yet. So don't get your hopes up or down.
The staff still hasn't had their meeting about the year end show, but at this point is looking like it will be the traditional 8 hour extravaganza spread out over 2 weeks.
chebingeo, I think the word that you are looking for is "published", not "official". It's not going to happen in the forseeable future.
