DROPPERS: Evanescence - My Immortal (from 39) Avril Lavigne - Don't Tell Me (from 36)
NOTES/COMMENTARY: [/li][li] Ryan said that the Rewind will be an instrumental. The AT40 staff could think of only 4 instrumentals that have charted in the past 10 years. If I remember correctly: Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen - Theme From Mission: Impossible, Robert Miles - Children, James Horner - Southampton, Darude - Sandstorm (Hey, I was right. I guess "Auld Lang Syne" doesn't really count since the Millennium Mix had sound bytes in it). [/li][li] Usher has had three songs on the chart for 12 weeks now. (And with "My Boo" charging up the chart now, why do I have a feeling it'll be four soon?) [/li][li] CHUM Extra: Nelly and Christina Aguilera - Tilt Ya Head Back (played between hours 2 and 3) [/li][li] Eminem might find himself in legal hot water. He never paid Dido for the use of "Thankyou" in his hit "Stan." [/li][li] CHUM Extra: Keane - Somewhere Only We Know (played between hours 3 and 4) [/li][li] Heh heh! Ryan mentioned that although "Don't Tell Me" fell off, the follow-up "keeps chugging up the chart." Well...yeah. Now it does. [/li][li] Ashlee's #1 makes a new chart record. It's the first time that two sisters have each had solo #1s.

Predicted Sandstorm would be the Rewind: CORRECT! It looks like Evanescence and Avril Lavigne are the droppers. At least it's 2 recurrents. There is a 5th instrumental to chart. Kenny G's Auld Lang Syne. The clip of Los Lonely Boys, they sounded stoned. Usher says on a scale of 1-10, he rates his sex drive a 20. Error #1: On the real chart, CC is #34, while Lloyd Banks is #36. Notice not only are they in the other order on Seacrest, but CC is 6 spots lower, while Lloyd is 2 spots HIGHER! Once again, Seacrest favors the rapper. Error #2: Favoring too many hip hop acts & American Idol bias in here: On the real AT40 chart: Bowling For Soup is #24 Kelly Clarkson is #26 Ciara is #27 Terrorist Squad is #28 Petey deleted is #30 On RST40: Bowling For Soup is #33 Kelly Clarkson is #31 Ciara is #32 Terrorist Squad is #30 Petey deleted is #28 As Gilbert Gottfried would say... SON OF A BITCH!!! Error #3: The Britney songs are flipped. Error #4: With recurrents out of the picture, D-12 is 3 spots higher than they should be. Too much hip hop favoring. Houston is #14 on the current R&R chart, and he's already #12 on this chart, and Seacrest even said it could be top 10 by next week. Error #5: Jailbird Juvenile is #7?????????????????? >:( >:( >:( Maroon 5 at #6 instead of #3 like the real chart says.

No offense, but unless you have the chart using only the playlists for all the AT40 affiliates, there's no way to know that these are "errors".

Usher has had three songs on the chart for 12 weeks now. (And with "My Boo" charging up the chart now, why do I have a feeling it'll be four soon?) Would that be the first time an artist or group has had four songs on the countdown at once?

Would that be the first time an artist or group has had four songs on the countdown at once? In the history of AT40, I'd have to guess, yes. Prior to AT40, a little act called The Beatles (maybe you've heard of them) managed to score up to 7 concurrent top 40 hits.

How can you call it an intrumental when there's talking the whole way through it?

And how do 2 hip-hop acts and a past AI winner charting lower than on the actual chart indicate bias towards hip-hop and Idol ??? Because of the recurrents factored in. Now please explain why the following hip hop songs are higher on this chart than the real chart: Lloyd Banks (34) WITHOUT recurrents should be 36. Petey Pabl0 (28) WITHOUT recurrents should be 30. D-12 (18) should be 21 Usher Yeah (17) should be 19 Houston is already #12, and on the CURRENT R&R he's only #14. He's not even #12 on the last 7-Day chart! And Seacrest is talking about this going top 10 next week! Juvenile is #7 yet he peaked at #10 on the real chart. Yes, I agree, this chart is hella racist!!!

Because the two charts count airplay from different stations. The basis of the two charts are different. They have different sources. The Rhythmic chart has rap songs charting higher than the AC chart. Does that make it racist too? Do you not get this, or is your prejudice blinding you from the truth?

Why is Juvenile #7? That doesn't make any sense.

Why is Juvenile #7? That doesn't make any sense. You know the 121 CHR/Pop stations that Mediabase monitors and whose spin tallies Mediabase adds up to form the CHR/Pop chart? Not all of them play the AT40 show. AT40 counts airplay only from stations that carry the show. That includes stations not included on the R&R panel of stations, and excludes those stations on the R&R panel that doesn't carry the show. Naturally, there are differences between the two charts. Why is Juvenile #7? Presumably, those stations that are not on the R&R panel but play AT40 generally have Juvenile in higher than average rotation, and those that are on the R&R panel but not AT40's don't. What does this have to do with anything? The Rhythmic and AC charts are two different charts based on different Mediabase sources. So are AT40 and R&R CHR/Pop.

I have a feeling there are Rhythmic stations being used to compile as well.

Do you mean Billboard? A lot of people complained when they switched from Billboard. What on earth is RST40?

No.. by the REAL AT40 chart, I think that chebingeo means the Radio and Records Chart, the one that the Original AT40 with Casey Kasem used since it's return in 1998, and before that, Casey used for CT40 from 1989 - 1998..
RSTop40 is Ryan Seacrest's countdown, which is altered from the original chart and can't really be called AT40 out of respect for Casey Kasem and the original incarnation of American Top 40.

I have a feeling there are Rhythmic stations being used to compile as well. So what? It's not called the CHR/Pop Top 40. I checked the Rhythmic chart (y0m&cutoff=0) and saw that "Don't Tell Me" had only 1 spin last week. This isn't hard proof that there are no CHR/Rhythmic stations on the AT40 panel, since I can think of two reasons to get around this fact, but it does cast doubt on your claim.

I agree! It's nice to hear semi-obscure songs (i.e. "Ghetto Supastar" and "My Own Worst Enemy") as rewinds and soundtrack hits rather than former #1s that have been played to death.

A CHR-Pop chart would have too many stations and be too time-consuming for one person to recreate. I don't even listen to AT40.

He says RST40 and every time I roll my eyes and respond. That is SO ignorant. You are not respecting Casey Kasem by saying that. AT40 was modified itself several times during Casey tenure. Tell me, did you call it SST40 when Shadoe Stevens was the host? The original chart for AT40 was Billboard's Hot 100, not R&R. The reason they left Billboard is because Billboard had too many rap songs too high in the countdown and stations didn't like to play them at the time. Plus Billboard charged for usage of their chart. Enough of the RST40 nonsense already. I don't know where you get this idea that you are respecting Casey by doing that, you are not. I have connections with the AT40 staff (as many of you already know), and I can tell you that there isn't any naimosity/bad feelings between Casey and Ryan, nor with the way the show was redone. The fact that you are respecting Casey is ONLY in your head. It's still American Top 40, whether you like it or not.

tobedawg, This is an ongoing thread that I have with chebingeo. He says RST40 and every time I roll my eyes and respond. And every time he says "Error", I have no choice but to respond too. We have new members registering every day and I can't let him mislead the newbies into thinking that the AT40 chart is biased or faulty.
