This is picking up quite a few Adds here.
Could John Mayer have another "Your Body Is A Wonderland" type of hit on the run?
My Prediction: #21
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I can't believe this song is so close to hitting the top 40! Its not bad but it doesn't seem right for pop radio.

It's ho-hum, just like all his other songs.

This song is good. I agree, it's not exactly a song that you would expect to hit up Pop radio, but that makes it all the better. Aside from Ryan Cabrera's "True", this is the only other slow-paced single on Pop radio today.
As for why it's becoming so successful? I really don't know. I think it's just because it's such a simple track, and has such a good message behind it... It can't hurt that it's quite easy to memorize the lyrics. I always find myself singing along to it, whenever it's on.
Look for it to debut on my chart next week. ;)

It's nice to hear a classy song doing well on POP, but personally his previous two singles 'Bigger Than My Body' and 'Clarity' were two of the best pop songs I've heard in ages. 'BTMB' did pretty well on POP, 'Clarity' didn't even make it in N&A, go figure.

I wish Clarity were the big hit from this album. Me too. It's easily my favorite of the singles he's released. I'm not surprised it wasn't a big hit outside of AAA though. Edit: This is post #2222

John Mayer is one of those artsy singer/songwriters I admire until I really focus on the "singing" - like Bob Dylan. "Wonderland" was a great song sung well - within the limits of Mayers ability. The tone of Mayers voice on "Daughters" is unattractive to me and his extremely limited range grates on my nerves. If Mayer didn't write these brilliant songs he would have no songs to sing because its not the singing hes good at. Mayer, however, makes up for it with his poignant moving lyrics. He's a philosopher and a poet but he is not much of a singer. I would not pay to hear him sing. I've listened to this song only once all the way through and change the station (after agonizing over it for 30 seconds or so) every time it comes on. I did look up the lyrics and print them out - they are magnificent. I have a grown daughter and r-e-a-l-l-y tried to like Mayers voice on this one but - I just can't do it.

This song is ok. Both "Bigger Than My Body" and "Clarity" are better though imo. I hope this doesn't become too big of a hit.
My prediction: #18

Wow, that's the exact same thought I had when I first heard this. It makes absolutely no sense that crap like "Just Lose It" is hanging around in the Top Ten, yet this song drops a spot to #40. Of course, that's in a rather congested area of the chart, but still.

Wow, it's the first John Mayer song I like since "No Such Thing." The lyrics are sweet but pretty basic -- it's the rhythm and tempo that grab me.

He went on TRL for the first time this past week to premiere the video. They're really going for the pop audience with this.
