Beastie Boys Recording New AlbumWhile Beastie Boys fans have learned to expect a lengthy wait between albums, it appears the B-Boys are making up for lost time and already working on the follow-up to 2004's To The 5 Boroughs. In an interview with Canadian JAM! Music, the Beasties revealed they are writing new material and will likely self-produce their next album. Adam Horowitz (aka Ad-Rock) declared their next album would be their "best ever," adding, "Wait 'til you hear the new s**t that we’re working on. The s**t is hot." Mike D. chimed in that the trio is merely in the "messing around" stage right now. The Beasties' live concert film, Awesome! I F---in' Shot That!, was recently released on DVD. SOURCE

www.gigwise.com/news.asp?contentid=27192The Beastie Boys: Expect To Be Disappointed With New AlbumBand joke about it...by Scott Colothan on 26/01/2007 The Beastie Boys have joked that fans can expect to be disappointed with their new material. The rappers have been holed up in the studio recently, laying down new tracks for the long-player which they will be road testing over a string of tour dates. Speaking ahead of their appearance at the Good Vibrations festival in Australia next month, Mike Diamond was in typically boisterous mood. The 41-year-old joked to theage.com: "It is actually really different ... fans can expect to be disappointed, they can expect to be angry at us. "It's always hard to know (how the album will turn out). We still have a little of a way to go. I don't want to describe it too much because whatever I say might change. "We are in the middle of recording it ... we are pretty excited about coming to Australia."

The 41-year-old joked to theage.com: "It is actually really different ... fans can expect to be disappointed, they can expect to be angry at us. That is so not what they should be telling the press. Let the fans judge for themselves. If the group says they know the fans aren't going to like it or will be angry, the fans will probably react that way.

www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003553678Beastie Boys Eyeing Summer For New AlbumMarch 05, 2007, 10:20 AM ET Jeff Vrabel, Bluffton, S.C. An uncharacteristically short three years after their last disc, 2004's "To the 5 Boroughs," the Beastie Boys are putting the finishing touches on a new record. "Hopefully that'll be out this summer, too," group member Adam Yauch tells Billboard. Though he remained characteristically tight-lipped about details, Yauch says the Beasties plan to air out some of the new material in a series of dates this summer, including a headlining slot at the Sasquatch Festival, to be held May 26-27 at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Wash. From there, the Beastie Boys head to Europe for a series of festival dates. The band also plays a headlining set in Paris on June 26. As first reported here Friday, Yauch has also produced a new record by the original lineup of Bad Brains, "Build a Nation," due in late May or early June via Megaforce.

Beastie Boys name new album Mike D gets ready for new record and Live Earth gigBeastie Boys have revealed exclusively to NME.COM that their new album will be called 'The Mix Up' and will be released in June. Bandmember Mike D said the follow-up to 2004's 'To The 5 Boroughs' will be "radically different" to its' predecessor. The rockier record will instead hark to the style of the band's classic albums 'Check Your Head' and 'Paul's Boutique'. Mike D said: "We play instruments on the whole album, as opposed to sampling. There's more rock on there. If you know us you can trace the influences and they're no completely surprising. Someone who listens to us casually might think 'What the hell are these guys doing?' "It might make you flip your wig right off, or your hairpiece, if you're a casual listener." The star also talked about the band's forthcoming appearance at the London leg of the Live Earth shows, which aim to promote action to confront global climate change. Beastie Boys will perform at Wembley Stadium alongside the likes of Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snow Patrol. Speaking about the cause, Mike D said: "It's come to the point where drastic measures have to be taken now. To really create a mass consciousness of what needs to be done, mass action, it's gonna take mass awareness. And these huge concerts around the globe are probably one of the best means of doing so." Asked if he would be playing any new material at the event, the star replied: "By that point we'll already be playing new songs. But I dunno - you don't wanna do 'Jazz Odyssey' in front of a crowd of 60,000."

Thread title change!
Oh, the album leaked. I don't know what to expect since it's an instrumental album, but they still haven't disappointed me (though Check Your Head was a bit underwhelming IMO) so I have a good feeling about the record.

Beastie Boys Announce U.S. TourWhat's that noise? Chain-smoking hypocrite dads and jealous moms with sensitive ears should know: it's the Beastie Boys The fight for partying rights being a lifelong one, Mike D, Adrock, and MCA will grab their trusty microphones and take to the stage once again across a series of U.S. dates in late summer. Unlike the recent instrumental set at Sasquatch!-- meant to showcase jams from the Beasties' forthcoming The Mix-Up (due June 26 on Capitol)-- this tour will find our three MCs and (presumably) one DJ throwing down old-skool-stylee (not unlike that other set at Sasquatch!). Assuming our swift-tongued friends can't, won't, and don't stop anytime soon, a set of more intimate instrumental dates should emerge in the near future. Assuming I actually hear a Beastie Boys song released this century by then, I'll totally make a lame reference to it next time. Getting down with no delay: 08-01 Philadelphia, PA - Festival Pier 08-06 Boston, MA - Bank of America Pavilion 08-08 New York, NY - Central Park SummerStage 08-09 Brooklyn, NY - McCarren Park Pool 08-16 Denver, CO - Red Rocks 08-23 Santa Barbara, CA - County Bowl 08-25 Berkeley, CA - Greek Theatre

Billboard:
ARTIST: BEASTIE BOYS
ALBUM: THE MIX-UP
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Since 1992's "Check Your Head," the Beastie Boys have made a habit of sneaking little instrumental nuggets into their hip-hop records, and given the Boys' genetic inability to stay in one place for too long, it was probably only a matter of time before they indulged those proclivities on a full album of new material. Composed of low-end-heavy jams that reference the Meters, tropicalia, '70s funk and porn music (sometimes all at once) and zero words, "The Mix-Up" is thematically sound and feels like a comprehensive piece instead of a self-indulgent scheme. There are moments of thick, bona fide groove (the down-and-dirty "Off the Grid" chief among them). But stylistic aspirations aside, with the Beastie name on the cover, it's hard to listen without (sub)consciously seeking out the places where rhymes could go.
