'Time On Earth' is the band's first new studio album in 14 years, and features founding members Neil Finn and Nick Seymour, along with former member Mark Hart and new drummer Matt Sherrod.Original drummer Paul Hester passed away in 2005. The newly re-united band just performed at Coachella, their first official US performance since 1996.

The lead-off single will be "Don't Stop Now". The album track, 'Silent House', was co-written by Finn and the Dixie Chicks, whose own version of the song appears on their Grammy Award winning album 'Taking the Long Way'.

I'm curious to hear this album, and looking forward to it. Also to hear their rendition of "Silent House," which is probably my favorite song on the DXC album.

Crowded House Taps Yorn For Summer Tour

As expected, Crowded House will tour North America for the first time in more than 10 years, beginning Aug. 4 at Calvin Theatre in Northampton, Mass. The recently reunited Aussie rock troupe has tapped Pete Yorn and 16 Frames as openers for the 27-date trek.

The tour runs through mid-September and includes a previously announced appearance at Bumbershoot on Sept. 1 in Seattle. Crowded House will also perform with Fountains Of Wayne on Aug. 22 in Denver.

The tour comes in support of the band's forthcoming album "Time on Earth," to be released July 10 via ATO. The group debuted its new lineup, with new drummer Matt Sherrod, last month during a pre-Coachella warm-up show in Pomona, Calif.

Crowded House, Time on Earth: * * * 1/2 (out of four) Reassuring reunion

Dedicated to original drummer Paul Hester, whose death in 2005 inspired singer/songwriter Neil Finn and bassist Nick Seymour to rejoin forces, Crowded House’s first studio album in 14 years reveals a band both haunted and energized. The melodic gifts that allowed Finn to craft some of the sweetest pop of the late ’80s and early ’90s are still intact; and if the group’s lilting arrangements offer few surprises, its unpretentious warmth and modest wit offer a refreshing alternative to the winking and whining of some successors.

I just finished listening right now. It's a pretty mellow album. I like it on first listen. "Walked Her Way Down," "English Trees," and "Transit Lounge" particularly caught my attention, but those 3 are all together, so maybe it was just my mood or attention span while I was on those tracks. I'm listening at work, so not paying very close attention.
